@Anonymous they are labeled on the desktop app - place your mouse pointer over a colour and the name will appear in a popup.
But this doesn't address the OP: we should be able to attach a custom name to a specific colour (e.g. green = 'Meeting', blue = 'Customer facing work' etc).

I agree with this. I find it odd that we can label tags in the email views but not in the calendar.
I use labelled tags in other email apps to be able to find client-specific meetings and appointments, and to mark out other items such as urgent, admin, leave etc.

As a recent joiner on a Workplace Standard plan I also find it surprising and somewhat frustrating that I'm unable to search through my calendar within the mobile app.
I appreciate I could load the web version on my device and search from there but it requires unnecessary additional steps when it could be integrated instead

Previously transferred my business platform to Proton from M365 and have recently done the same for myself and partner at home on paid subscriptions.
I'm a 1Password user and not having tags in Proton Pass is a dealbreaker for me. I was hoping to cancel my 1P subscription now that I have a paid PP option, but without this option I won't be moving my password manager
