I would consider extending this idea even further:
- Profiles. I have bookmark toolbar with folders of bookmarks for different things such as folder for bank websites; a folder for news websites; a folder from websites I buy stuff from; etc however I also have a folders for websites I use at work. So I would see value in having different profiles: so you click 'Personal' profile and all your personal type bookmarks and bookmark folders are loaded into the browser; then click 'Work' profile and all personal ones are unloaded and any work related bookmarks and bookmark folders are loaded instead. Right now I see work bookmarks in my browser all the time and end up thinking about work when I shouldn't be. You could even have different profiles for different devices.
-History. Having history of visited websites has always been a feature of web browsers but at the same time nobody wants anyone looking through it. How many times have you heard the old dying wish joke of 'please delete my browser history'? If there's a browser extension that manages bookmarks then why not just push through into a full blown Proton Browser extension that stores an encrypted copy of your history that only you have access to.
-Open Tabs. I keep tabs open for some websites, some are pinned to reopen when the browser opens. Some browsers offer an option to share these between devices as well so if this idea were extended into a Proton Browser extension then it would be handy extra feature to have.
-Extension Permissions. I have no idea how feasible it would be but a cool feature would be automatically disabling any browser extensions that haven't been added to a permissions list in the Proton Browser app when you log in to it; +1 for security. Maybe an option to auto-install any required extensions if they're available for the browser? That way you could keep a list of extensions you use and they can be easily set up on new devices.
-Pass or not to Pass? There has been some suggestions to integrate the proposed Proton Bookmarks into Proton Pass which would make sense; but given the additional features I'm suggesting I think it would go beyond the concept of Pass. Maybe instead make Proton Browser and integrate Proton Pass into it instead?
Thanks for reading.
