I asked Lumo about this earlier this year. The codebase is on GitHub and you can run your own instance locally. It will not be the same experience. Lumo uses multiple backends to field queries based on the content and subject of the query.
Example:
You ask a programming question and it hands of the request to a model geared towards programming. If you just want to talk about life that goes to another model,
The source code does not include this ability or the personalizations Proton provides.

First there are some misconceptions that beed to be addressed. You don’t buy a linux distribution. You fork it, Linux is just a Kernel the OS is made up of open source apps.
Secondly as some mentioned Kali is a pentesting distribution not a secure distribution. For the utmost security OpenBSD would be the choice of OS. However it’s so restrictive out of the box everything requires manual setup and it’s an entirely different kernel that’s pure Unix and that could be a show stopper for adoption.
All that said this is still an incredible valid idea. This is not outside of Protons wheel house at all. They are already using Linux in the infrastructure and most likely have a custom build. That’s most of the work there. Just need some branding and coding to integrate the entire stack and make it seamless.
I think they need to include a proton browser too. With all the goodies built in. That’s a separate existing request.
Proton this is a no brainer. You have the resources to pull this off and seamless integration is sorely needed in Linux.
Linux on the desktop is now at 10% globally. (Reported in the last week.) That’s not a small number of people.
Do the Linux community a solid and make this a reality. You have ignored our needs for over a decade.

How many years has it been without this Moderator? Maybe we won’t be double posting if you actually listen to your users needs.

Angentic AI is becoming mainstream and its leveraged by major organization. Lumo in its current form is severely limited in its capabilities and can’t even create files short of images and that’s a mixed bag at the moment. And it doesn’t integrate at all with the Proton ecosystem. (Copying and pasting into a file on proton drive is not integration)
This is a show stopper for me. While I can leverage other agentic platforms, like Openclaw, having to cobble a solution together is counterintuitive and can lead to massive security issues if not configured correctly. This flies in the face of what Proton is trying to achieve as a company. We need a complete solution.
