Russian Doll design
I truly dislike what I call the "Russian Doll" design of Proton email threads. On a long email thread with multiple contributors, Proton email very quickly becomes non-intuitive and difficult to navigate. Why is it exactly, that previous messages need to be embedded as sub-messages within each reply or new message on the same thread? It makes no sense, and is confusing. The design of email thread ought to be LINEAR....where each new reply or new message should be added after the previous message. The design-approach of redundantly embedding previous messages is clunky at best. In my opinion, this should…

Send as linux.com
Hello, I pay for Proton Unlimited and I would like to be able to send email as my linux.com alias I have as part of being part of the Linux Foundation. The issue is that I obviously don't control this domain, so can't follow the verification steps. Is it possible to have this ability with Proton Mail? I am able to do it with Google Workspace but would rather continue paying for Proton Mail.

Manual timezone override in Mail web app
I (and I'm sure many others here) use a browser with ResistFingerprinting that sets all websites to use UTC time by default. Oftentimes, this causes issues with apps like Proton Mail and Calendar because all of the times are off by a couple hours.
This is easily fixable in the Proton Calendar web app under Settings > General > Time zone. Can this manual timezone feature also be added to Mail?

Sync color for Apple Mail flags
When selecting a colored flag in Apple Mail on Mac, the flag is synced to other devices. However, if I select a flag of a different color than standard, for example green, then the synced flag is still the default color. Please sync the color choice as well as the flag itself

Showing folders icon inside main inbox when new emails in them
I would love to be able to see my folders with new emails ,inside the main inbox instead of having to click on a sandwich button (mobile) just to see if there’s new emails in my folders. Most of my folders don’t have / need notifications for them but it would still be useful to see if there’s new emails in them. I would see those folders icon sort of as a silent notification for email. The folder wouldn’t need to show any content (maybe just a counter of new email) and clicking on it would simply take you to…

Use a CDN for static files
All these CSS and JS files that my browser retrieves when I access ProtonMail are coming from an IP is Switzerland. I have >200ms latency to it so, even with caching, the page still takes 5 seconds to show something. Every single time.
Please consider hosting your static assets in a global CDN so users can retrieve it faster. I don't think this would compromise your security as these assets are already in people's browsers' cache areas.

Low bar menu
It would be handy to be able to move the navigation bar down to be able to reach it better with one hand

Allow top-level folders
Currently, ProtonMail sorts all folders under a folder creatively named "Folders". While this looks nice on the web app (and is a much better solution than GMail using labels for everything), in third-party email clients such as Thunderbird, user-created folders all get thrown under Folders. Visually, this is slightly unappealing. Other email servers simply place folders at the top of the file-tree. This is not really important but is a small detail that would be nice to have.

Custom folder list width on computer.
Whereas I can see all of my folder names on the mobile app, much of my folder list is hidden on Proton online. I group similar folders (e.g., various folders related to finance) and prefix them with a short category word. The result is that I have to hover over each folder to read the full folder name. Can you please allow the user to adjust the width of the list?

Sort/filter by email address used. Everything goes to 1 inbox for all proton email addresses for a user.
I'd like a way to filter or select which email address I'm using. I thought I'd be able to use a primary email and then a secondary to use for things such as website signups/promotional use. I want all that subscription stuff to go to a seperate place and only look at it when I want, not every time I'm in my primary inbox. I thought that would kind of be the point of multiple email addresses but everything is just an alias for the primary...I don't quite get the point or usefulness.

Offer familly less than 6 users
It could be more affordable to offer other plan than 6 users for familly. In my case I only need 3 users and I don"t want to pay over seats. I can understant for B2B to have this business approach but for B2C people can't afford such money.

Block Sender in bulk and by domain
The "block messages from this sender" option is great. Please add an option beneath to "block messages from this domain" because future messages from the domain still require blocking. This would save lots of time compared to the Filters page in settings.

custom keyboard shortcuts
Gmail has a feature that lets you set your own keyboard shortcuts for actions like archive and star. I use this to bind the
a
,s
, andd
keys to archive, star, and delete, which lets me quickly go through everything in my inbox. It would be nice to be able to customize keyboard shortcuts in proton mail as well.10 votes -
Proton Pass Yubikey support
So the new Proton Password manager is great n all but it needs better security on the browser extension.
No Yubikey (or similar) support, using a pin to unlock rather than say a pass phase. Thankfully the app has biometrics.4 votes -

Dissociate / Transfert an alias from a Proton Mail Account to anorher one
Be able to extract an alias from a Proton Mail Account and associate it to another Proton Mail Account (already existing or to be created).
Alternative : Be able to access by password the mails linked to one alias but not the other alias of the Mail Accounts. My problem is that I want to share my alias to different users (typical contact@company.com) but I don't wznt these users to habr access to my password or the mails received from the other alias.
EXample : My Proton Mail Account has 3 alias : original.alias@protonmail.com alias2@protonmail.com alias3@pm.me

Count badge on iOS icon shows the total of unread emails from all accounts.
When using Proton Mail with multi-accounts, it's useful that the count badge on iOS icon shows the total of unread emails from all accounts, so I don't have to switch account to know if I have unread email.
