  1. Allow to edit 'From' field

Created a login at walmart.com with passmail alias

Created an order and got an error message that said to contact accountreview@customercare.walmart.com

I clicked on it, it brought up a PM email with one of my PM aliases in the From field.

Since the domain name I'm sending to doesn't match the one in Pass, I wanted to change 'From' address to the passmail alias. But I can't.

I like PM and it's my primary email now, but Thunderbird's ability to change the From address would be good here.

  2. Hiding addressee email address from URL

Sending mail to another Proton Mail user uses E2E encryption, which is nice. Although the key validation mechanism(?) contains steps calling different APIs within the proton environment, and such HTTP requests contain the email address of the addressees, therefore it is exposed and logged in case your company inspects TLS.

    Example key validation flow:

    mail.proton.me/api/core/v4/keys/all?Email=username@proton.me&InternalOnly=0
    mail.proton.me/api/kt/epochs
    mail.proton.me/api/kt/v1/epochs/2464/proof?Identifier=username@proton.me&Revision=2
    mail.proton.me/api/kt/v1/epochs/2464/proof?Identifier=username@proton.me&Revision=1
    mail.proton.me/api/contacts/v4/contacts/emails?Email=username@proton.me

Can you please consider hiding the email address in the requests?

    Thank you.

  3. Visual notification of a recipient's first e-mail to combat spam and phishing

Spam and phishing often use a new e-mail address. Emails sent the first time are therefore more risky. Coloring new senders in red or orange encourages us to pay attention to where the message is coming from and whether it's a fraudulent one.

  4. Add Archive button to navigation bar on Android

The notifications in Android provide both "Trash" and "Archive" buttons, which is great; however, when I have an individual Protonmail message open in the app, there is only a delete (trash can) button. To archive, I have to click through multiple buttons: Move to>Archive>Done. This is cumbersome and unnecessary; there is room to add an archive button next to the trash can icon in the navigation bar.

  5. Very basic sentinel for proton mail plus

Add one or possibly two stripped down features of proton sentinel to proton mail plus. If the user wants the full sentinel package, then they would need to upgrade to unlimited.

  6. Better "Spam, block, and allow lists"

The current UI/UX for the "Spam, block, and allow lists" make it very difficult to manage them as the lists grow over time. We urgently need a more streamlined and easier way to manage those lists.

For instance, my Spam list is currently 32 pages long, while my Block and Allow lists are 6 and 12 pages long, respectively, with multiple email addresses on the Spam list already covered, on a domain level, on the Block list.

  7. Huge improvements needed in Mail contacts

For years I have run my business depending hugely on a good contact manager. Since privacy became number one for me four years ago I have relied in recent years on proton for contacts.
However, since on my android phone, a primary device, there is no ability to do a simple search for a name, either first or surname. This renders contacts fairly useless. 2 years ago I suggested that such improvements could be made to make contacts a useful tool. Little has been done.

  8. Scan attachments for viruses

When a person clicks on a download link contained within an inbox email, there needs to be an intermediate popup window stating whether the link contains a virus before it would downloads.

  9. Change zoom in desktop app

In the browser for Proton Mail I prefer to use a 90% view size to see everything better, as well as in Proton Calendar, where I use e.g. a 70% view to see more events and more text that would otherwise be hidden.

  10. Add FIDO2/U2F support to Mobile apps (and allow disabling app based 2FA)

Proton webmail finally supports FIDO2/U2F hardware security keys.

Please add this support to the mobile apps as well. Yubikey has inexpensive NFC-enabled hardware security keys. NFC or not, Proton's app should also support this as an option.

Currently you can only log into mobile with an app-based TOTP code or a recovery code, and you can only unlock a logged in session with a PIN or biometrics.

It should be possible to make the only option a hardware security key for all Proton apps.

  11. Full Context search improvements

I prefer to use the web-interface to proton mail rather than Bridge...
The Full Context search is a great option, but it has a few notable issues in my opinion, especially with larger mailboxes.

In my case the download takes quite a while, and if I clear the browser cache this has to be re-done time again. Same goes for multiple devices, etc...

I suggest adding a setting option to the full-context search to let me define the scope of the index by: Number of days (or date) and the folders I want to include.
    This would let me constrain…

  13. Group mail in inbox view by label

I would love to have an option to group mail by label on my inbox dashboard. A bullet pointed list of the feature I have in mind:
    - The feature does not have to be available on mobile and could be a web exclusive (as is the case with Google Mail)
    - The feature can be toggled on/off on the settings tab, next to density and layout
    - Each label would be turned into a separate list of mail items
    - If an email has multiple labels, the email would appear in both label's list
    - All unlabeled items would…

  14. Unlimited custom domain forwarding addresses

TLDR: ProtonMail offers you to pay them to provide THEIR E-MAIL SERVICE on YOUR OWNED DOMAIN and then acts like they own your domain and limit the amount of addresses you can use on your property. Custom addresses need to be unlimited.

    ——————————————————

ProtonMail is an E-MAIL SERVICE PROVIDER.
As a base service, they let you taste test how it feels to choose them as your trusted E-Mail service provider. They will provide you an E-Mail from one of THEIR domains, where they provide the E-Mail service for themselves. As they do this for free, they will limit you to…

  15. Count of duplicates after import

Currently, if a folder being imported into Proton has the same email twice (can at least happen with Outlook, where you can copy emails to folders in classic Windows client), they are silently discarded. If one is to compare the numbers of emails in source and Proton, though, they will get a mismatch. Having at least count of those duplicates in the final report after export will be helpful. Even better is to copy those duplicates still, but with a label "Duplicate" or something like that.

  16. Return to mail after calendar

Right now when you click "Open in Proton Calendar" button in Windows Mail app, you can't get back to the mail app from the opened screen. You need to re-open it. Which is not convenient.

  17. Fixed scrolling window in folders

When I scroll down my folders I want the folders above the “Folders” to remain on the screen (Inbox, Draft, Sent, etc) and I don’t lose access to them as I move to the bottom of my extensive folder list.
