  3. Point-in-time recovery of files

Some products consists of multiple files. Thunderbird mail of iPhone backups through iTunes, for example. In case of corruption, ALL files need to be restored from the SAME point in time. Recently, I had a corruption of my Thunderbird mail file system. I tried to recover it from my Proton Drive sync files, but it was way too much work going through each history files. I was lucky enough to still have my "old" way of doing backup (IBM Spectrum Protect, in that case), that allowed me to do a point-in-time restore and save my emails. Although Proton Drive is…

  4. Allow for taking a snapshot

I am nervous that a file I need could be deleted from ProtonDrive and I may not realize it for months or years. Or I am afraid that files could become corrupted. It would be nice if ProtonDrive could implement some type of snapshot feature that would allow me to manually (and periodically) create a snapshot of my files and allow me to open and recover folders/files from a historical point in time.

Periodic options might be to retain snapshots for each of the last [3] days plus each of the last [4] Sunday 23:59, each of the last [3]…

Show phones as computers. Many folks have multiple phones and they're really just computers. I like being able to see what is where, and perhaps, being able to have sync groups so desktops can stay in sync separately from phones, etc.

  6. Add a comment to an upload

In Proton Drive, I would like to add comments to the files I upload.

I use it to backup generations of programs and it would be very helpful to be able to note what changes are in each generation.

  10. IPv6 Adoption

Allow access to Proton services, e.g. https://drive.proton.me from IPv6-only hosts. Currently, the access is not possible from my IPv6-only client (IPv4 address required).

  11. Android app; open file from synced folder

Google Drive allows me to open a file that has been synced on my Android device. Currently, Proton Drive allows me to sync a file to my device but I cannot open the file from the synced directory, edit the file, and then save it back for auto-upload to the cloud. There is little benefit to syncing to my device if I must then "download" to perform an edit and then "upload" the file again.

  12. Shortkey Ctrl+Alt+D to open a quick search bar on Windows

The user enters a shortkey like Ctrl+Alt+D to pop up a search bar to find a file.

The idea is the same as Google Drive's shortkey Ctrl+Alt+G on Windows.

    This is a time saver!

  13. File REPLACEMENT functionality

Please add a button that allows us to replace any file with a newer one.

Current Problem: After we have generated a link for a file, and we want to upload a newer/updated version of that same file, we have to upload a completely new file and generate a new link. This is problematic if we have already shared that link with folks and don't want to send them piles upon piles of new links for the same or updated file. Just let us upload a newer version to that file with a button in the bar at the top,…

  16. Add an "upload photos only while device is charging" option to the Android app

OneDrive's mobile app has an option for its camera backup to only backup photos while the device is charging. I would like to see this added to ProtonDrive. I dislike how currently it instantly uploads as soon as the photo is taken.

  17. Add versioning for Excel files

Each modification to an excel file causes the current version to be replaced during the synchronisation process.
Enable versioning on this type of file too.

  18. Device folder-level access control

Now that the entire contents of my Proton Drive are accessible from all devices that I log into it with, I'm nervous that a compromise on one device could lead to a complete takeover of all my data.

I'd like to suggest a feature where folders can be given an access control list, similar to NTFS permissions on Windows, but device based. The web portal would have access to all folders always, but from the web portal, you could define which devices are allowed read/write access to specific folders.

This would allow for segregation of my data, and give comfort…

  19. end to end encryption

You must also encrypt protondrive and protonmail android app user data and encryption key, with a local password(app lock) to help protect from offline, unauthorised access.

  20. Don't default move deleted files to Trash, and make this configurable and more transparent.

I only found out by accident that deleted files end up in an online-only Trash folder instead of being deleted. From a privacy and security centric company I find this quite shocking.

I would expect at the very last for this to be:

    a) Opt-in, preferably with flexible retention.
    b) Much, much more explicit, and definitely not entirely obscured by the app and only discoverable via the web interface.

I don't want to have to remember that files I deleted are still stored at online at Proton, and having to go to the web to ensure they're really gone.
