1. Inconsistant timelines

   I've noticed some inconsistencies in the way dates are handled in the timeline view when updated via the Web interface.
   * Photos use the "Photo taken date", while
   * Videos use the "FIle modified date".

   This results in a messy and inconsistent timeline. To work around this on our end, we’ve had to delete all the videos, unify the metadata dates, and re-upload them. However, it seems odd that a different logic would be applied to photos vs. videos, so this feels more like a bug than something intentional.

   With such approach, it is impossible to have the video correctly sorted, unless you upload the original file ever created.

   Ideally, we hope this can be resolved on your side, so we don’t need to re-upload everything again.

2. [mobile] Easier selection of multiple images

   Current implementation: Currently, when dealing with albums in Proton Drive on mobile devices, users must manually tap each image to select them and add them to an album. Same applies also when selecting images in other views, regardless if intention is to add them to an album or not.

   Issue: This process can be cumbersome, especially when dealing with a large number of images spread across multiple rows. The lack of a streamlined selection method makes it time-consuming to organize photos efficiently.

   Proposal: It would be beneficial to introduce a more intuitive way to select multiple images. On mobile devices, a gesture-based selection feature such as long presses, sliding, or other, allowing quickly selecting multiples of adjacent images.

3. Download progress and cancelation

   Hi.

   Can we have some notification for downloading files on mobile app (android)?
   Like in status bar to see how much is already done and also option to cancel download.

   Recently i try to get file from drive and it was over 500mb. I get note "download started" in app but i had no idea how fast or how it progress. After few minutes i still had no file in phone and every time i open app it say "download started". Cant even cancel it and had to force quit app.

4. Render Photo Captions/Titles from the Photo's metatdata

   (a) When viewing the photo gallery, optionally, display the photo's caption/title.

   This would have to be done carefully as there are many candidate places in a photo that a "caption" of sorts is stored: jpeg caption, jpeg title, etc..

   (b) The ability to edit the "caption" metadata and then modify the source file.

   This means that all the effort that goes into captioning photos would not be lost as the edits would "stick" with the photo. If completed, this would make Proton Photos better than any other cloud Photo applications - as all the other store the caption away fro the photo and it gets lost when you want to later download the photo which locks you into that platform forever. So much so, that people often don't bother with captions.

   (Because of the encryption at rest, This may have to be done by the client app and the modified file then re-uploaded.)

5. Offline support for documents on iOS

   When I have no internet on my iPhone and I open Proton Drive, the spinner keeps going indefinitely even if I have offline documents. Having this flow defeats the purpose of having offline documents in the first place because when I am offline I cannot access them.

6. ability to control and rearrange tables in proton drive docs

   I would like to be able to move a row after I have written it, or duplicate the row elsewhere in the existing table.

   I would like to be able to rearrange the rows without manually copy pasting everything inside them.

7. Proton Codes

   Hi, could you add a separate code section to my files, like Proton Photos? Finding the code I've written in my files is really difficult and time-consuming. To avoid this, I'd like a section that only displays the code, similar to Proton Photos. This would be a good alternative to GitHub or GitLab. I'd love for ProtonDrive to be the world's first cloud storage app to support programming languages. I'd also like for the code to be displayed with a progress bar showing the usage rate for each language, just like GitHub. Trust me, Proton users will love Proton Codes for its updates. :)

8. Reconnect desktop app to existing folder

   Hi,
   I wanted to pull an offline backup for my and my wives Drive.
   I synced my folder to an external drive, switched users in the app to my wife, synced to external drive and then...
   I couldn't switch back to the big online folder of my account, because you can only switch to an empty folder. So I had to download everything in my account again.
   And the next time I want to pull a backup on my wives account I'm back to the problem.
   I created a second Windows account for her now and never switch users in the app...
   But this is really weird and was different and better in Google Drive iirc.

9. Templates structure in Proton docs

   I need to create the same page structure in proton docs multiple times to ensure that i am not missing any element in my report writing.
   It will be extremely productive, if a template could be saved for such requirement and then i just click that template and save my 7 to 9 clicks including the font and the size specifications.

11. PDF - scroll while zoomed

    Reading pdf's on mobile is hard, so I use the landscape mode combined with zoom. But if I reach the end of a page, the PDF viewer is not switching to the next page.
    Please add that the next page will be shown although I've zoom activated

    I propose a virtual NAS, hosted in Proton's data centres. It would serve as a server for different external services, in addition to ProtonDrive.

    Informaniak already offers a similar service.

13. Add photo to album without opening the album

    Currently, when I select photos and then add them to an album, this album is opened. So, when I want to add further photos to the album, I need to go all the way back to the photo overview and find the place I left. It would be great if there was an option to add photos to an album while staying exactly where one is in the photo library.

15. Proton Photos - Web - Hide photos in marked albums from main view

    I use my "main" photos view as a way to scroll back through the memories of my life.

    Some pictures, like screenshots of things or photos of receipts or "private" photos, I do not want to see these in my main list. They clutter this view and make it ugly.

    I propose adding a "Hide these photos from the main view" checkbox to albums, that hides photos in these albums from the main view once they are added to it. This would allow my main view of photos to stay clean.

    Additionally, hiding these from the main view would make it clear which photos I had already sorted, and which ones still need to be sorted into albums.

    In future this would pair well with an "Auto add to album" feature for screenshots and similar photos.

    Your blog says a Linux client is in progress, but Proton Drive cannot be taken seriously as a core product until it exists. Linux is a first‑class environment for many of your most technical users, and the absence of a native client is a fundamental gap.

    If E2EE is the bottleneck, ship a non‑E2EE Linux client now with explicit warnings. Engineers know how to encrypt locally — Cryptomator, rclone, and similar tools already solve this. pCloud has used this model for years. Delivering a functional client early gives you performance data, crash reports, and real‑world usage patterns instead of waiting for a “perfect” release.

    Proton has massive potential, but the current strategy spreads engineering effort across too many new products while the core platform still lacks critical functionality. Focus on Proton Drive first — it’s where Proton is unique, and it’s where you can actually outperform competitors.

20. Folder "shared by link" with photos should have a gallery view

    If I have a folder (not album under "Photos") with photos, it can appear as a gallery and I can easily see the photos. If I make a "shared link" and send it to someone else who is not logged in, it only appears as a list of files. They can't see all photos at once and they have to scroll through them one by one to see them. I think, overall, it would make sense to have the gallery view in as an option in shared links. (This is not about Albums)

    I often take photos for others and share them back to them via Proton Drive shared link. It's not as good an experience for them to see them just as a list of files, and doesn't serve as a good advertisement for Proton. Sometimes, I even haven't shared via Proton since I didn't want it to look less sophisticated to them (what should be considered a base feature, even though it does exist for me). The code exists, so I hope it can somehow be enabled for guests.
