1. Sync file deletion between local and cloud storage

   In the proton drive app, you choose folders to sync to the cloud. But when you delete a file from Proton Drive, its local copy is not deleted from your computer. However, when delete a local file, its cloud copy is automatically deleted.

   This can cause problems, for example if you rename or otherwise edit a local file that is in a synced folder but whose cloud copy you have deleted, it's going to create a new cloud copy of it.

   My suggestion: Adding two new toggles in the settings. One that would make it so that when you delete a file from your cloud, its local copy would be deleted too. And another one that would allow the user to choose whether the cloud copy of a file should be removed when the local version of this file is deleted.

   This feature would improve the user experience by avoiding confusion and duplication of files, as well as saving storage space and bandwidth. It would also enhance the security and privacy of the users by ensuring that their files are deleted from both locations when they want to. Users would have the option to enable or disable this feature according to their preferences and needs.

2. Proton Docs: documents should use odt format by default

   Even if docx is a format more used, Proton should use odt instead as it is an open and standardized format while docx is proprietary and belongs to Microsoft.

3. Folder info (size, stats)

   In details I'd like to see the number of files and folders inside a chosen folder and it's total size.
   It'd be also cool to be able to see details for a number of selected folders combined, so I could check the info for a few folders placed next to each other.

5. Sync existing macOS folders

   I miss the option to sync a folder that is not the default Proton Drive location in macOS. I think this is available in the Windows app.
   Right now if I want to sync files with Proton Drive I need to copy them to the Proton Drive location in Finder.

6. Search bar for mobile app

   Include search bar for proton drive in the mobile app. Currently, the only way to search my drive is if I open a browser in desktop mode.

7. Selective syncing of files for Mac/Linux/Windows

   Actual syncing of files is so important, that I was considering to upgrade my plan today for getting 500GB storage. But then I realized that ProtonDrive doesn't sync files, and that it works with manual upload/download only, so it wouldn't be useful for me, and so I'll wait rather than upgrade now.

   I work with Mac, Linux, and Windows computers, so I need to sync across them.

   Also note that I said "selective syncing". It would be highly desirable that if you have 200GB of files and you start working with a computer you didn't sync yet, this doesn't trigger a 200GB download, but just a download of the files you really need in that moment. I realize that doing this automatically would be technically challenging (specially if you support Mac, Linux, and Windows), because it would require low-level integration with the filesystem, which is a hard thing, but... I tend to believe there could be some manual workaround (like manually limiting the synced folders/files for a computer) that could offer almost the same functionality without a technically difficult solution.

   Selective syncing is not just about avoiding unnecessary huge downloads, but to be able to work in computers whose free disk space is not enough for storing all your files: if you could choose to sync only a part of the folders tree in that limited space computer, it would be perfect.

   By the way, being able to bypass network-based syncing in some situations, by copying the files with a physical hard disk, would be a plus. Just imagine: You get a new laptop, and you want to sync on it your 200GB of files. Rather than doing it with the network, if you have your files in another computer and you can copy them with a physical disk or local network, you would save lots of unnecesary network traffic. Then, after such big copy is done, the new laptop will continue working with network-based syncing as usual.

8. Photos bidirectional sync

   It's great that one's photos can be "backed up". But, photos needs to have bidirectional syncing. An example: if one deletes a photo on one's phone, it should be deleted in Proton Drive/Photos. I applaud all of the wonderful improvements in Proton Drive/Photos, but to be fully functional this feature is needed. Of course, none of the features are available to Linux users as there is NO PROTON DRIVE CLIENT available for Linux.

10. Open local PDF files on mobile

    The Proton Drive mobile app can open PDF files uploaded within the app. However, it is not registered to open PDF files from within the system (e.g. a PDF file inside the File Manager). Adding this won't be difficult, especially since Proton Drive mobile app can already open these files.

11. Markdown support for Drive

    I like the document editor in drive (even though it misses some features). But I dont like the fact it only works online, and local representations are only links to the online document (editor).
    I like to work offline, and be able to work with simple text files. I like to write al sorts of documents as markdown in vim. Markdown is great: it can be 'rendered' as something rich-texty but it is also perfectly readable as plain text. Best of both worlds...
    I would love support for this workflow in Drive.

12. Password protect specific folders if sharing account.

    It would be nice to have the possibility to assign a password to a specific folder. It's a good solution if you e.g. use your Proton Drive with other family members/friends what so ever.

14. AI photo finder

    It would be great if there was a privacy friendly (read: on device) replacement for the facial recognition-based photo organization in non-privacy respecting apps.

    One thing I found useful in Google Photos for instance that I've missed is the ability to see a selection of faces of people that I know and then to find pictures I've taken of them. Currently if I know the photo I'm looking for is one of my father ... I'm often out of luck trying to find it in a sea of photos.

    Facial recognition technology does bother me for a number of reasons ... but the can of worms is already opened. It would be great to see this more benevolent and handy use case paired with a privacy respecting implementation.

15. Export all Drive data

    Please provide a feature like "Take Out" from Google, I constantly make backups of all my data to an offline drive, downloading everything manually is really time consuming.

16. Move photos from photos tab to other folders

    Hi, thanks for making Drive available for Linux. I use Fedora 39 KDE.
    I also use Photo backup via Android (Samsung S23)
    When I open all my files/photos in Linux web browesr, if I right click images, I can move to respective folders. As well as preview, move,rename, get link & delete.
    If I open the folder that uploads Photos, via Android, this option is not available. Only download, upload or delete.
    Perhaps this is a feature in the making?

20. Organize Photos

    It would be great, and frankly necessary, feature to be able to organize photos:

    1. To be able to filter and preview with different criteria (Assigned album, location, device, etc.), and not only to see them listed by date.
       E.g. Add a button/slider like - Exclude pictures assigned to Albums from Photos. So a user can easily filter "unassigned" photos. - If I assign photos to an album, I know where to find them - Current setup is confusing because I don't know if I added all of the photos I want to an album.

    2. When backing up folders from mobile device, it would be great if we could mirror the organisational structure.
       E.G. If the photos on a mobile device are already sorted in "Albums" and "Group Albums", we should be able to see the same structure in Proton Drive without re-creating it manually. (Basically just copy Samsung Gallery or similar organisation)

    3. Being able to link Albums in Proton Drive as a folder - One you can open and manage as any other, maybe add a special icon.
