How can we improve Proton Drive?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Ability to attach files from proton drive to email

    Currently it seems one can attach files only from the computer.
    Would be convenient if the attach button could give access to proton drive folders/files.

  2. ProtonDrive: anonymous file upload

    I'd like to get file uploads, à la Dropbox File Request, but with the security of e.g. SecureDrop.

    This should give the uploader as much security as possible; eg
    * no logs
    * optional space for text (delivered as email with the file upload notification), eg to identify themselves as much as they want, explain what the files are, etc
    * route through a proxy or the like if on open web
    * available as Tor service
    * encrypt in browser to a GPG key I provide, or at least to my ProtonMail key
    * etc (copy SecureDrop, Mega, etc)

  3. PDF Thumbnail preview

    Box - Icloud use this feature - VERY VERY helpful to browse through 200 PDF files and find the right one based on the cover only !!

    Without the hassle to download them at first before they show the coverpage

  4. ProtonDrive iOS Integration and Google Drive Transfer tool

    two things:
    i’d like to see protondrive be integrated into iOS so when saving files, one can upload through iOS to protondrive like we can with google drive, icloud etc.

    would also like to take everything off of google drive and would like a tool to import-export from google drive to protondrive.

    otherwise, so glad protonpeeps are adding products and functionality. love the tools especially now when privacy is increasingly scare.

  5. Pictures in HEIC-format to be made available in preview

    Pictures in Apple iPhone HEIC-format, need to be downloaded and cannot be previewed in Proton Drive.

  6. Alter documents in Drive without downloading, altering, and re-uploading/replacing

    I would like to be able to interact with and alter/edit documents inside the drive. It is cumbersome to make a simple edit to a document by having to download, alter elsewhere, and then upload and delete the older version.

  8. Make offline folders for a desktop PC

    I use OneDrive for most of my files, because I can so easily sync it with my computer. And I can navigate the file structure with File Explorer offline. It is so easy to drag files around quickly to organize my documents.

  9. Import or sync from other online cloud storage services

    I would like to be able to link/hook/connect to services such as: mega.nz, OneDrive, GDrive, or S3 directly from Proton Drive. Giving the ability to import or schedule synchronizing my files from these other services.

  10. Proton Drive - Share link and share shows in other Proton users area

    When I want to share a folder or file with another Proton Drive user I can either put in their user info for them to access it or I can send them the link. When they get it, they can go into their Drive and see my share in their "Sharing" section and they can view it without downloading. I'd also like to see restrictions where i can make my file/folder viewable only and they can't download it.
    I think the current way of sharing, where they have to download it makes my information very insecure. Because the shares always…

  11. Scanning documents

    If saving a physical document into Proton Drive, it needs to be scanned first. It would be great to get it into be a pdf-file directly from Proton Drive. Not using a third party app. Take a look at Tresorit to see how they solved it.

  12. Expand files types that can be previewed

    Specifically, I would like to preview Open Office files for text .odt and spreadsheets .ods. It is very helpful to view .pdf.

  13. define different acces rights for the same file/folder

    I would like to request different acces rights for the same file/folder and time (eg. view only, download, edit and view only for one time)

    For videos uploaded to Drive, please include a thumbnail image from that video to uniquely identify each video, instead of only manually adding a title to each video.

  16. Proton Drive as storage location for ALL NextCloud Storage Needs

    Make Proton Drive directly link-able with NextCloud for ALL NextCloud storage needs. Photos, documents, contacts, mail, etc, etc.

    Currently running a personal instance of NextCloud on LINODE web based server....but Linode's US based storage is not as secure as Proton's and too expensive. I want the ability to create / edit / etc documents (built into NextCloud) and then SAVE the files within super secure Proton Drive. Is this do-able now? How?

    I REALLY want to leave Google Online docs and photos 100% and Proton may be my best bet. HELP

  17. video streaming in protondrive

    Have ability to see video right from the drive webapp, like youtube. Instead of needed to download it completely.

    Without video streaming, uploading videos to drive is pointless from my usage benefits perspective. The need to download the video files destroy the usability.

  18. Proton Drive: Checksums!

    It would be wonderful to be able to compare checksums between a file stored on Protonmail servers and a file stored locally, before deleting the local copy. I don't really want to re-download a file to check integrity on either end.

  19. access to my Proton Drive by using a ssh command

    I want to use the backup program from Ubuntu Mate but it asks for a server access to the external drive.
