1. WebDAV Access for ProtonDrive (Linux)

   I’d like to share my feedback regarding Lumo and using ProtonDrive on Ubuntu. Below is a summary of our discussion:

   1. WebDAV Access for ProtonDrive I attempted to use ProtonDrive via WebDAV on Ubuntu to improve usability. Despite enabling Beta access, I couldn’t find a WebDAV option in ProtonDrive settings. Efforts to use davfs2 or rclone failed because the domain dav.proton.me couldn’t be resolved.
   2. Alternative Solutions ProtonMail Bridge: Installed successfully but lacks direct ProtonDrive integration. Session Buddy: A Chrome extension to save ProtonDrive sessions, reducing frequent logins. However, I’m uncomfortable relying on this workaround due to security concerns and limited functionality compared to native integration. Rclone: While useful for cloud sync, there’s no official support for ProtonDrive. Browser Extensions: Tools like password managers help but don’t replace native integration.
   3. Feedback and Suggestions Enable WebDAV: Official WebDAV support would allow seamless Linux integration. Native Desktop App: A dedicated ProtonDrive app for Linux would significantly improve usability and reduce reliance on browser extensions. API Access: Providing an API or official integrations (e.g., for rclone) would enhance flexibility. Access and Security: The current browser-based access is cumbersome, requiring frequent logins—especially problematic when handling sensitive data. A better integration would improve both usability and security.
   4. General Experience with Lumo Lumo provided helpful guidance but could offer clearer instructions or links for ProtonDrive integration on Ubuntu. I hope this feedback helps improve ProtonDrive’s Linux compatibility. Thank you for your efforts!

4. Allow selection of email alias for Proton Drive shared downloads

   When we share a file from Proton Drive, it reveals the account primary email address. E.g. "Digital signature verified. This file was securely uploaded by email@proton.me". Allowing the use of an alias would help maintain privacy.

5. Sync directories android/linux/windows/drive and allow backup apps like Whastapp, Signal, Threema

   This could be achieved by syncing a directory in android with proton drive.

   Syncing a folder is essential. For instance I could sync some documents, books, keepass databases and other files to have a shared directory between my computer and my phone and having all those files also OFFLINE for instance when traveling.

   An option to backup public storage data from apps such as: Whatsapp, Signal, Threema, etc is also essential to stop using Google Services (dgrive) to backup those apps. I think the private storage backup is not possible.

7. Preload photos in the background for quick viewing

   Viewing photos in proton drive is quite cumbersome as it takes a several seconds for each photo to load in high quality. Preloading the next few photos - and keeping the previous few in memory - would make the experience so much more enjoyable.

8. Export all Drive data

   Please provide a feature like "Take Out" from Google, I constantly make backups of all my data to an offline drive, downloading everything manually is really time consuming.

9. Move photos from photos tab to other folders

   Hi, thanks for making Drive available for Linux. I use Fedora 39 KDE.
   I also use Photo backup via Android (Samsung S23)
   When I open all my files/photos in Linux web browesr, if I right click images, I can move to respective folders. As well as preview, move,rename, get link & delete.
   If I open the folder that uploads Photos, via Android, this option is not available. Only download, upload or delete.
   Perhaps this is a feature in the making?

10. Edit file metadata (including photos)

    Don't need much. Currently, the Photos portion of Drive doesn't have any capability beyond view photo.

    I would like to be able to upload lots of photos and re-arrange them/fix metadata issues.

    Primarily, Windows has taken some of my old photos I've edited/restored and made the Date Modified to today's date, when the photo date taken was 1965. But when I upload to Photos, it appears as today's date.

    I should be able to easily go in and correct these mistakes.

14. Require 2FA and password before accessing Proton Drive in Windows Explorer

    I would like the addition of an option in the Settings menu.

    If this option is checked, data 'at rest' in the Proton Drive is encrypted and unusable in a Windows computer by default, on each startup. Only after entering the Proton password and 2FA does the Proton app unlock, decrypt all files and make read/write possible.

    To clarify, it could still sync files while in 'encrypted' mode from the cloud to on-premise, but always encrypted first. And usable upon unlock.

    Then when the user actually wants to do something, they can enter credentials and decrypt their Proton Drive. Kind of like how a TrueCrypt disk would work.

    As mentioned, this should be an 'option' so other users who want to leave their Proton Drive decrypted all the time can still do this.

    The reasoning behind this addition is: it is ridiculously easy to bypass the Windows login screen when on-premise. Someone could login to your computer copy all ProtonDrive files to a USB and then leave, if the ProtonDrive is decrypted by default and accessible in Windows after login - as is the case now.

    This kind of defeats the purpose of having an encrypted local Windows app, hence my suggestion.

15. Create dedicated photo app

    I know that the current plan is to fully integrate the photos feature into the Proton Drive app.
    However, I think it would be more logical to have a dedicated app for photos and one for documents in general. With combined apps, I fear that the app either gets overloaded or features will be missing because it would get too crowded otherwise. The photos app also needs wayy better performance than the current app (at least on android, the photos feature is very slow and misses a lot of crucial features, like face detection, editing or a map to show where photos were taken).

17. Location settings for Sheets (date, numbers, currency...)

    It would be great to be able to define the location settings in each Proton Sheet file with a list of countries so that the date, number, currency, etc. formats correspond to the selected country.

18. Allow editing on Proton Sheets for Mobile

    Proton Sheets works well on Laptop/Desktop but when viewing via the Proton Drive app on mobile (I have a Google Pixel 6a) the message "Screen too small for editing"... is displayed.

    Flipping to landscape allows editing but the keyboard takes up the whole screen so it's obvious Proton Sheets was designed only only to be used on larger devices at this stage.

    Would be good if work were completed to enable editing and generally update the mobile app so that Proton Sheets is truly functional via mobile.

19. Delete phone photos after upload

    Option to delete uploaded photos from phone

    Just uploading pictures is not enough if I need to check and delete the pictures by hand. There should be the option to one-click delete uploaded pictures or do that automatically after a certain time.

20. more space! we should have the option to have 1TB minimum or even up to 4TB.

    500GB is nowhere near sufficient.
    I want the privacy and security proton drive has, but it should really be 1TB at minumim, and we should have the option to add more.
    Way more.
