Double-click to open a shared Proton Doc
Opening a shared Proton Doc – In the web UI (https://drive.proton.me), locate the shared document, double‑click the title or the blue Doc icon (or select the file and press Enter/right‑click → “Open in Docs”). This opens the file directly in the Proton Docs viewer. The three‑dot menu only offers download, details, copy, or remove; it does not contain the “open” command. Adding this step‑by‑step tip will help free‑account users who see only the three‑dot menu and prevent confusion.

Separate or tag devices for Photos
When backing up photos, save each device's photo library to a separate folder or at least tag which device the photo came from.
I take personal photos on my phone and photos for my business on my tablet, I don't want to mix them up in a single collection.

lots of us have customers, who'd like to share clientdata with us within gdpr guidelines, for which we create undersignments with customers. Customers should be able to safely exchange personal and medical data to us business users through a proton upload facility

A central page to deal with conflicts
Title basically. Doesn't have to be fancy, doesn't have to have extra functionality. No notifications no warnings, just a list I visit whenever I am looking to freeup extra bytes.
I just want to know what conflicts I have. Maybe then I can deal with them manually, or have the app deal with them.
I hate that my PC drive will slowly get fillied with conflicted files without me knowing- Unless I go search every folder in my PC?

Proton Mail - Sorting custom filters
Being able to sort the custom filters based on alphabetical order like it is already possible to filter your Folder and Labels.
This would make sure the managing of multiple filters is easy and convenient.3 votes -
# 0105 Search & filter integration + “Topics” sidebar
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Extend the existing search bar to filter by tag and add a permanent “Topics” sidebar that lists all user‑defined tags for quick navigation.
Why it matters:
- Users can instantly locate all items with a given tag without opening multiple folders.
- The sidebar provides a visual overview of the tagging taxonomy, helping non‑technical users discover related content.
- Complements the virtual Topic Map view and encourages consistent tagging practices.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- Index encrypted tag metadata locally and perform tag‑filtered search client‑side.
- Add a collapsible “Topics” panel on the…

# 0102 Dynamic “Topic Map” collections. Virtual “Topic Map” collections that aggregate tagged items
Hi Proton team,
I’d like to propose a single feature that would improve Proton Drive:
Idea: Introduce dynamic virtual collections (called “Topic Maps”) that automatically gather all files/folders sharing a given tag, regardless of their physical location.
Why it matters:
- Users can view all assets related to a project or theme in one place without reorganising folders.
- Teams can quickly audit completeness of a deliverable set (e.g., “all assets tagged ‘Game‑Launch‑Q3’”).
- Mirrors the “smart playlist” concept many users already know from music apps.
Suggested implementation (high‑level):
- When a tag is created, generate a virtual folder view that pulls in every item with that…

Make indent+outdent buttons visible by default on mobile
As a mobile Proton Drive user taking notes on a book, a podcast, or a lecture, I want to indent and dedent with a single button press so that I can efficiently take hierarchical notes. Proton Drive and Google Docs both have indent/dedent functionality. Google docs shows indent+dedent buttons by default on mobile. Proton Drive hides them in a menu on mobile.

Workbooks (Sheets) Statistic Bar
Both Google Docs and Microsoft have a feature that when you select cells, if they are of the same data type, you will get an average, sum, min, max, and count of total selected cells. This could be across rows, or in columns. This is very helpful if you need a quick sum of fields, without creating a new field to calculate those values.
This value shows up in the very bottom right.

Offline access overview with one click
At present you have to dig deep into your files to find the documents you have selected for offline access. It would be really nice to have those offline documents available with just one click like Tresorit has.

Allow custom domains and branding in file sharing URLs with Proton Drive
Hi there,
when I share a folder with a public link, I only get an URL with the following structure:
https://drive.proton.me/urls/...It would be really great if I could use one of my connected custom domains here instead.
Also, I would love to implement some custom branding on the public-facing page that contains the shared data.
Right now, there is a "Proton Drive" logo and a link to setup a free account. This could even be connected to the selection of the domain: If I use the "drive.proton.me" URL, the Proton branding could stay intact, and if use "drive.customdomain.com",…3 votes -

I know it's early, but until Proton office apps allow me to add pictures to sheets, docs, and slides I can't fully switch. Would love to see this added soon!

The Proton Drive video and music player needs to be replaced.
Videos and music should play directly without caching, like in Google Drive.

I would like to see an actual page of the HTML file I have on my disk instead of code when opening it in a browser, and nothing when opening it from an Android app.

Prevent repeated photos/videos in backups of Android
Each time a folder is activated for backup in android, all the images are uploaded without checking if them are already uploaded. A hash comparison would resolve this issue and prevent photos or videos' duplication

Proton Drive - Make "Modified" sort recursive, include contents and subdirectories
Right now the sort by "modified" date only refers to the very top level of the Drive. But If I'm adding files and folders to a top level folder that I created 3 years ago, that top level folder is still way far down on the sort list. If I'm doing a lot of work in one directory and frequently modifying the contents and/or subdirectories, I would expect that to be reflected in the top level, but as it is I have to do a lot of scrolling and manual scanning on each layer to get to the same folder…

Keyboard shortcuts
I would love to see keyboard shortcut support in the web version of Proton Drive. Out of habit, I always press F2 when I want to rename a file (same as in Windows and other Microsoft products, it has also been implemented in Google Drive).
It would also be nice if e.g. Ctrl+A (or Cmd+A on macOS) selected all files/objects in the current view.
Using the arrow keys (up and down) to move the selection from one object to the next. Extending selection of files by using the arrow keys (up and down) while holding Shift.
Alt+Arrow up to traverse…
