1. Print layout for Proton Docs

   I would really like to see a print layout in Proton Docs, like the default view of the desktop Google Docs client. I want to be able to see how my document will look printed out, in addition to the seamless view (à la Google Docs mobile app) that already exists, without needing to make a docx or pdf version of my doc.

3. Proton Drive CLI: Content-aware conflict detection for `filesystem upload -c merge`

   Implement content-aware (checksum-based) conflict detection in the merge mode so that byte-identical files are skipped, avoiding redundant uploads, storage duplication, and version history pollution.

   Problem

   The Proton Drive CLI (filesystem upload -c merge) resolves file conflicts by filename only, not by file content. This means byte-identical files (matching checksums) are re-uploaded as new revisions instead of being recognized as unchanged and skipped.

   Reproduction

   1. Set up a local directory ~/test with files
   2. Have corresponding /my-files/test on Proton Drive containing some identical files
   3. Run: proton-drive filesystem upload -c merge ~/test /my-files
   4. Files with identical SHA1 hashes are uploaded again as new revisions

   Expected behavior

   Files with matching checksums should be detected as unchanged and skipped. Only files with different content should create new revisions.

   Actual behavior

   All files in the target directory are uploaded regardless of content match. Version history shows duplicate entries with identical hashes, and storage is consumed redundantly (e.g., one ~4.38 MB file stored twice).

   Impact

   • Unnecessary storage consumption (duplicate revisions for identical content)
   • Cluttered version history with meaningless duplicate entries
   • Wasted bandwidth on re-uploading unchanged files
   • Poor sync efficiency, especially for large directories with many unchanged files

5. Delete photos from within albums

   Currently, there is no way to delete a photo completely from within an album, you have to hunt the photo down in "all" to delete it. Would be nice if we didn't have to do this :)

6. Decouple Proton Drive from Proton's default email address

   As I understand it, Proton Drive uses the encryption key of the default email address in your Proton account to keep your drive volume end-to-end encrypted. From my perspective as a user, this poses a significant design issue, as it presents several problems:

   • You cannot accept invitations to collaborate on folders or documents sent to an email that isn't the original email address used to encrypt your drive. The invitation will still appear in the Proton Drive app as pending, but you won't ever be able to accept it. Therefore, collaboration is no longer privacy-friendly, as you may need to expose your primary email to people you don't want to share it with.

   • There isn't a way to change the address associated with Proton Drive; the only solution offered by Proton's support is to wipe your volume and recreate it with a new address. However, this would require you to download all the content first and then re-upload it to the new volume.

   • The email address you used to create your Drive account is exposed, even in files shared with a public link. You don't have the option to hide your email when sharing files or choose an alias instead, defeating the mission of Proton.

   The email address of the Proton Drive account should be configurable and not default to the account's email, allowing the user to change the email address when needed. Until this is solved, Proton Drive is a broken solution for most advanced users seeking private and collaborative cloud storage.

   For example, one user may start using Proton with a default address using one of the Proton domains (example@proton.me) and later decide to change it to use their own domain (example@example.com). This user won't be able to use Proton Drive normally anymore after switching their emails.

7. Remove requirement for keyring for Proton CLI so it can be used on headless servers

   Currently the new Proton Drive CLI requires libsecret and a keyring (gnome-keyring, kwallet, etc) which, if you attempt to install on a minimal headless Ubuntu server, pulls in over 50 package dependencies a lot of them for GUI based systems. Since this is a CLI tool it should not require GUI packages to use I suggest providing a "--headless" or "--no-keyring" flag for the CLI which does not depend on libsecrets/keyrings so the CLI can be used on headless servers. There are many other CLI tools that do this securely including rclone which supports Proton Drive.

9. Link to a Proton Drive File in Proton Sheet

   Request the ability, when creating a link in Proton Sheet, to directly retrieve the link to a file in Proton Drive, not just external links.

   Currently, to do this, we have to create public sharing links for our Proton Drive files, which is both inconvenient and not very secure if we share our Proton Sheet.

    I’d like to propose a new feature for Proton Drive: a dedicated Google Takeout Import Tool to streamline the process of importing data from Google Photos exports while correctly respecting the photo/video timeline.

    When importing videos from a Google Photos Takeout archive (photos are mostly ok), Proton Drive currently sets the file’s date based on the filesystem timestamp (e.g., when the .mp4 file was downloaded), rather than using the actual creation date stored in the accompanying .json metadata files.

    This leads to incorrect chronological ordering and loss of accurate historical context—especially for older media and large libraries.

    Introduce a Google Takeout Import Tool in Proton Drive that:

    • Detects and parses .json metadata files included with Google Photos exports
    • Extracts photoTakenTime or creationTime values
    • Applies the correct created timestamp to the corresponding media file (photo or video)

    This ensures accurate and consistent date metadata across all imported files.

This mainly affects videos, as photos generally retain metadata better. A dedicated import tool is especially important for users migrating years of content from Google Photos.

12. Share Proton Photos Album link for collaboration without requiring Proton account

    As a user, I want to be able to create a public link to edit or view a photos album so that my friends and I can have a common album where they can share and view photos.
    Some of them won't create a proton account, thus we are currently forced to use google photos now.

13. Allow sharing with Proton email aliases

    Currently in Proton Drive, when I try to share a file with someone who is using a Proton alias — for example, foo.bar681@passinbox.com — I get an error message:

    "Inviting someone with a Proton or SimpleLogin domain is not permitted."

    Why this restriction? Why, in order to receive an invitation to share a Drive file, must we expose our primary email address?

15. Missing Core Spreadsheet Feature: Internal Sheet-to-Sheet Hyperlinks

    Proton Sheets is currently missing a basic, foundational spreadsheet feature that has existed in Excel and Google Sheets for well over a decade: internal hyperlinks between sheets in the same spreadsheet.

    Right now, it is not possible to create a clickable link in one sheet that navigates to another sheet within the same file.

    Let me be absolutely clear about why this is a serious problem:

    I routinely work with large, complex spreadsheets containing dozens to hundreds of sheets. These are not “toy” spreadsheets. They are operational frameworks, logs, dashboards, and documentation systems that must live inside a single file.

    In every competent spreadsheet environment (Excel, Google Sheets), this is solved with:

    Sheet-to-sheet hyperlinks

    Clickable navigation menus

    Index / contents sheets that actually work

    In Proton Sheets:

    You cannot right-click a cell and link to another sheet

    You cannot create an internal anchor link

    You cannot build a navigable index

    You are forced to scroll horizontally through endless sheet tabs like it’s 2003

    That is not a workaround. That is a product failure.

    Suggesting that users “just click the tabs at the bottom” is not realistic once a spreadsheet scales beyond a handful of sheets. When you are dealing with 50, 100, or 200 sheets, manual tab-hunting is slow, error-prone, and frankly absurd.

    This feature is:

    Not advanced

    Not niche

    Not optional

    It is table-stakes spreadsheet functionality.

    The fact that Proton Sheets shipped without internal sheet hyperlinks strongly suggests it was designed for very small, very simple spreadsheets, not real-world operational use. That puts it far behind Google Sheets and Excel in practical terms, regardless of privacy advantages.

    Feature request (non-negotiable):

    Ability to create hyperlinks that navigate to another sheet within the same spreadsheet

    Ideally with support for targeting a specific cell (e.g. SheetX!A1)

    UI support via right-click “Insert link” or formula-based linking

    Until this exists, Proton Sheets is not viable for serious spreadsheet users running large, multi-sheet systems.

    I want to use Proton’s ecosystem. I am actively trying to move away from Google. But missing fundamentals like this make that impossible.

    Please prioritise this. It should have been there from day one.

    You support copying from Docs as Markdown. But copying markdown into Docs doesn't convert it to formatted text—it stays in markdown, making it hard to read.

    Please extend copying markdown to a two-way - copying from docs as markdown and pasting markdown to docs.

    Quite useful if copying from a markdown editor like chatgpt, github or else to Proton Docs

19. Allow users to manually reorder photo albums

    Please add the option to manually reorder photo albums in Proton Drive.

    At the moment, albums appear in a fixed order, but users should be able to arrange them freely by dragging and dropping them. This would make it easier to organize the album gallery according to personal preferences, projects, dates or themes.

    It would also be helpful if the custom order were preserved across devices.

20. Proton Sheets full page print

    A print feature in Proton Sheets to print the whole sheet rather than just 1 page. The current implementation relying on the browser print only prints what is currently displayed on the screen. This is only suitable for very small sheets.
