If Proton does this, it should be shielded-by-default for good privacy. Currently, only a fraction of all transactions in Zcash are fully shielded, thus making Monero, which encrypts everything by default, a much better choice for privacy.
Still, the zero-knowledge proofs of zcash are very promising (albeit even hard for the CEO of zcash to understand).Overuse

now that proton added support for .docx files (https://proton.me/blog/docs-proton-drive) and simple markdown/txt files, open documents should be top prio for drive!
I can't believe there is still no preview for open document format files.

I'm pretty sure Proton Pass forked a document scanner on GH. So this might be something that integrates with both Drive and Pass in the future, which would be awesome

I don't think this is a privacy risk because there is no sensitive data transferred, but at least give everyone a choice.
Make one version without Google's notification service and one with it for people who have less battery capacity.
Privacy is about being able to have a choice, and if I want a de-googled phone and still get all the notification, than Proton shouldn't be in the way of it.
(At least Proton is not dependent on google play services to work, just for notifications, which is still awesome IMHO and seems to be often forgotten here)
Edit: e.g. Proton Calendar has no notification problems at all without google play services, at least in my experienceOveruse

I think this might put some users at ease when you sync with your devices. Even if you have your folders synced to e.g. your phone, someone with access to the unlocked device can't open certain very private folders without an extra password. Currently I use verycrypt and picocrypt for that, so IDK how important this feature really is, but might be good to have.
