We need something like this. There's billions of smartphones, to say that there's only a market for two OS'es is ridiculous, especially as governments are cracking more and more down on the monopolistic tendencies that have given them their edge over the smaller competition. Combine that with an every increasing desire for privacy, and the market begins to become more and more realistic.
A privacy focused mobile OS that's not just made by a small company or group (like most alternative OS'es at the moment) but by a bigger player like Proton, would also make it much more attractive for app developers to make compatible apps, as they know that it isn't just some little niche thing, it will have proper potential that can realistically be built upon.Gibsen

A linux based OS designed for privacy and ease of use for non tech-savy people would be great. The lacking user-friendliness to the ordinary user, which is the vast majority of users, is one of the main things holding linux back as a viable alternative to Windows and iOS for the masses. I would LOVE some kind of ProtonOS. I'd pay for it.

I agree. A simple choose-your-own-plan model that has standard prices for each service that just get added up, with standardised price thresholds for discounts, would be great. The current plans are just not flexible enough, both in terms of what services you get and how many users you get in your subscription.
