Great backup solution at the Business Account level. It would be even more valuable if user-specific backups could go beyond Proton's own service data and also support full macOS or Windows system backups. This would allow users to keep everything in one trusted, encrypted environment.

Related feature request: Desktop Proton Backup

    The Deadlock Problem

This feature becomes critical when you fully commit to the Proton ecosystem.
Here's the scenario: You follow best security practices and generate a long, complex password for your Proton account. Naturally, you store it in Proton Pass. But now you have a circular dependency. To access Proton Pass, you need your Proton password. To retrieve your Proton password, you need Proton Pass.

This creates a genuine deadlock situation, especially in disaster recovery scenarios where you might be logging in from a new device without any cached sessions.

The workaround today is to either memorize your Proton master password (defeating the purpose of a password manager) or store it somewhere outside of Proton (defeating the purpose of a unified ecosystem).

Allowing Proton Pass to have its own independent unlock method (a separate PIN, passphrase, or biometric) would solve this elegantly. It would let users safely store their Proton credentials inside Proton Pass without risking a lockout.
For users who trust Proton with everything, this is not a convenience feature. It is essential.

Lots of love for that feature request - I just wrote a similar request before seeing yours!

    Unified Storage Add-Ons///////////////////////////

    Problem ///////////////////////////

Users who need more storage are often forced to upgrade to a higher plan, even if they don't need the extra features. The pricing for additional storage also varies by
plan, which feels inconsistent and confusing.

    Proposal ///////////////////////////

Let all users purchase storage add-ons in 1 TB increments at the same price per terabyte, regardless of their current plan.

    Why it matters ///////////////////////////

Users get flexibility without overpaying for unwanted features. Proton gets additional revenue without pushing people toward plans that feel like overkill.

"Proton Chat" sounds appealing on paper, but I think it misses how messenger apps actually succeed. Strong encryption isn't really a selling point anymore. It's just expected. And Signal already nails security better than anyone, so that bar is pretty high.

What actually matters is whether your friends are on it, and whether it does everything you need. The market's already crowded with Telegram, Signal, Threema, and WhatsApp, all with huge user bases that took years to build. Proton would have a hard time getting enough people on board, and you'd end up with a technically solid app that nobody you know actually uses.

    Strong support for this feature!

Encrypted DNS (DoH / DoQ) would be especially valuable when using Quad9, which I am already using anyway. Native support in the macOS and iOS apps would greatly improve usability and ensure DNS privacy truly aligns with Proton’s privacy-by-default approach.

I just tested the beta of Proton Meet today. It's fine for a start but needs some fine tuning and I am positive it will grow great over time.

@Amplitude: Yes, currently there is an option "Add Proton Meet conferencing" for each Proton calendar event.
