Option for product switcher to open local install
Currently in Proton Mail, there is a button which provides access to other proton tools. These tools are in fact shortcuts to the Proton website related to each tool.
The idea should be to evaluate if each tool has been installed localy and call these tools instead of going the the websites.2 votes -
Choose installation path for desktop app
Hello,
First of all, thank you for all the great work you are accomplishing at Proton.
I really love the idea of using Proton via the desktop app, but one thing is a no-go for me :
My disks are partitioned and my OS is isolated from my other installed applications.
I don't want ProtonMail client to be installed in "%LocalAppData%\proton_mail" by default and wanna be able to choose another partition / disk to install it.
I investigated a bit on the underlying installation system, which is Squirrel, and actually it seems to not allow installation path customization.

Minimize desktop app to system tray
Ability to minimize Proton Mail Desktop app to the system tray (notification area) to keep it from taking up space on the taskbar.

Prevent sending attachments (recommend to use shared link)
I would like an option that blocks me from sending any email with an attachment.
Rationale - when I send attachments with personal information I should be sending links to files stored in cloud drives etc rather than as an attachment to the email.
This is to prevent data loss from third parties poor IT security related to the storage and management of emails. It also allows me to have more control over the access to the data.
However it is easy to be lazy and not follow this best practice. The block, when enabled, would nudge / push me…

POP3 / SMTP support
ProtonMail for iOS should also act like a well integrated POP3/SMTP client that can send and receive email using Gmail, Outlook.com, and similar services. ProtonMail should look up the recipient’s PGP keys using reputable registries and provide the option of encryption and signing when sending to those parties. All mail should be stored in ProtonMail, and ProtonMail should send the delete call when retrieving via POP3. When onboarding new POP3/SMTP providers, ProtonMail should retrieve and delete from source all email and properly tag each email with a searchable and sortable tag identifying the source. Resizable left pane
Can we please have a sizeable left pane in the mail web and desktop app. It's very frustrating not being able to read long folder names.
This would enhance the experience and make it a lot easier to manage emails. There is already a sizeable pane for the email message itself, so hopefully this could be incorporated quite easily.
I would greatly appreciate this.

Option to publish OPENPGPKEY records [RFC-7929]
Protonmail could provide OPENPGPKEY DNS records as a means of distributing email encryption keys for their proton.me, protonmail.com, pm.me, and protonmail.ch addresses.
For external addresses, something akin to https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/jammy/man1/openpgpkey.1.html could be provided to generate DNS records through the user interface, which the user can then register with their DNS providers.

Offline mode for mobile
Please allow the app to perform offline operations (read any and all inbox email, delete, write and send emails), which will be queued for syncing whenever online. Same for calendar events.
As it is now, any email sending/deleting, calendar event creation etc will FAIL if the phone happens to be disconnecting from wifi, changing networks or any of the thousands of possibilities of a mobile device moving around at all times. Select all on Android
For the Android app: Add a check box to mark all e-mails at once. I want to have this ability for all folders within the ProtonMail Android app. This is to speed up the process of clearing the mailboxes.

In Gmail one can change the font of a pasted in text to match normal look of the rest of the email. Proton only lets one change the entire email to text or normal

Option to always load images sent and from trusted senders
Hi
I have disabled automatic loading of images in mails
But for messages SENT by me I think it's only natural that the images are always shown. I mean, I created the email, surely the images in it are safe for me to load ;)
Other suggestion: Load pictures from senders where I have already clicked "load images". Like a trusted-list6 votes -

Faster folder switching
protonmail on Android 12; currently when i select another folder, the new folder header will show, but the mails from previous folder remain visible until decoding is finished, this to me is confusing. possible to at least clear the screen in the time it takes to decode? possible to load decoded mails as soon as decoded?
