How can we improve Proton Drive?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Sort Items By Type (E.g. Folders First, Then Files, Etc.)

    Please add support to sort files/folders by type, such as being able to show folders first, then files below it -- when viewing items in Proton Drive.

  2. Add password/pin to access Proton Drive from the web

    Hi,
    I would like to be able to lock my proton drive behind a password/pin in case someone else use my browser for any reason

  5. Obsidian Sync

    Obsidian is a very popular, open source notes tool that manages everything directly on the file system leaving it open to many different syncing options.

    Pairing Obsidian with a Proton Drive syncing option would create an excellent privacy focused notes solution. Obsidian has a plugin ecosystem that allows for additional functionality and by creating a Proton Drive sync option that could be utilized on both mobile and desktop applications you would simultaneously address a market need while expanding the scope of the drive offering to something on the level of a free office suite.

  6. Proton Drive Integration with Android Default Storage

    I haven't yet found a way to set Proton Drive as a default storage location on Android within the "My Files" functionality which drives selectable save options for most file save actions. Obviously, Google Drive is available along with MS OneDrive, internal storage, SD storage and network storage. Having Proton Drive set here would make file management much easier on Android mobile.

  7. proton drive backup app for windows

    I would like an app for Windows to do only backup, not sync, of my local folders on Proton Drive, like the Amazon Photos app. I don't want that, in case the files are removed from the cloud, they're also removed from my local pc.

  8. Segmentation - Multiple Drives Per Account

    The ability to completely segment a drive and have multiple drives per account would be a good feature. It would ensure that you could share and/or sync specific drives to a desktop app without the risk of unintended sharing data stored on the other drive(s). Additional drives could be purchased as an add-on or users could elect to split their available account drive capacity across multiple drives.

  9. Family sharing

    Add the ability to have a family plan for Drive like what Google Drive has. I currently have a family plan with Google drive and would like the ability to do that with Proton Drive which will allow me to finally break away from google completely.

  11. Export all Drive data

    Please provide a feature like "Take Out" from Google, I constantly make backups of all my data to an offline drive, downloading everything manually is really time consuming.

  12. Auto-Lock After 'x' Number Of Minutes Of Inactivity (E.g. Logout If Idle For 10 Minutes)

    I'd really like the ability to set the web app(s) -- e.g. drive.proton.me, mail.proton.me, etc., etc. -- to automatically lock if idle for 'x' number of minutes, such as after 2, 5, or 10 minutes of inactivity. Currently, the only other option is to uncheck the "stay logged in" at login, and even then it only logs you out if you've closed the browser (some people keep the web browser open indefinitely).

  13. A configurable setting for the number of threads you upload with - enabling speedy upload of many small files.

    In the desktop client during initial configuration I would like to be able to increase the number of upload threads to on-boarding significantly quicker.

    For instance, if I have a code repository uploading to Proton Drive and the repository is composed of a node modules directory or a python modules directory there might be tens of thousands of files, and each one of them may be less than a kilobyte.

    In this case the time taken to initiate the connection, write the data, and report it as finished takes up almost all of the overall time.

  14. "Mimic Dropbox"

    Like many, I am used to Dropbox, but I know it is a weak option for online storage. I have Proton Mail, VPN and Drive and like your products. However, I am struggling to get into the habit of using Drive as it feels different from Dropbox. So I am suggesting that, without changing the Drive app, you simply put together a little help file explaining how to create a local folder on a PC or Mac that is fully sync'd across all devices such that a file placed or edited on any device is replicated across all other devices.…

  16. Map Viewer for Geo / Location Data in files

    This is similar but more focused than the idea here: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/945460-general-ideas/suggestions/45229390-proton-maps

    This is more about a 'viewer' of files on Proton Drive to open a map UI of items within Drive that have a geolocation. Creating layers/adding geometry (like a google mymaps) is not part of this idea but could be part of roadmap.

    1. View geotagged photos from an album in a map view; or to add/change location of photo (via pan/zoom from the photo view)

    2. Open geo-files in a map view, that is kml, gps tracks, sheet with lat/long, shapefile, geojson... open standards.

    Again, the focus of this idea…

  18. Failed Files when uploading. Feature to retry all failed files.

    I uploaded 1000+ files. 39 failed. It is difficult to scroll through and find the failed ones. I suggest being able to sort the upload list by failed files, or a button to retry all failed files

  19. Separate data limits for Proton Mail and Drive

    Currently, as far as I understand, Proton Ultimate paid plan gives 500GB across all the mail accounts AND Drive.
    This is silly and annoying... I have already asked for and voted for MUCH higher Drive data capacities (minimum 1TB) because 500GB is simply not adequate.
    But to then have to worry that the 15 email addresses I can use with my Proton Ultimate would start eating into my Drive data is crazy! If I value something enough to pay for cloud storage, I consider it IMPORTANT and don't want the possibility of a bunch of emails with heavy attachments causing…

  20. File Symbolic Linking

    One of my uses of ProtonDrive is to archive documents. For these, I wish to be able to archive them in multiple places; the same document has relevance to both the new house I purchased as well as to taxes. As such, i would like to have a link to the file appear in both of these places.
    Currently, to support this I must upload the file twice into the two locations, potentially requiring me to download the file prior to re-uploading it.
