Enable 'rclone' to give you access to the Proton Drive as part of the Mac file system, or produce a Terminal app yourselves.
I've used the command-line program 'rclone' to show my Proton Drive as part of my Mac file system, so I can backup files from a Terminal. It's dead slow, but it worked. Then, two days ago, I ran
rclone mount proton: ~/ProtonDrive \
--vfs-cache-mode writes \
--tpslimit 0.3 \
--transfers 1 \
--checkers 1 \
--low-level-retries 1 \
--timeout 10s \
--daemon --protondrive-replace-existing-draft=true
and it said
"CRITICAL: Failed to create file system for "proton:": couldn't initialize a new proton drive instance: 422 POST https://mail.proton.me/api/auth/v4: We are detecting potentially abusive traffic coming from your network and have temporarily blocked logins. If…6 votes -
Add more right-click (context menu) functionality please!
Dropbox has a robust Right-click feature set in Windows Explorer. Proton needs the following:
- Purple P icon in every context-menu item (for quickly finding the set of commands)
- Copy Proton Drive link
- Sharing options of different sorts
- View on Proton Drive Website
- Make online-only
- Make available offline
Among others!

Photo date
Please support photos taken before 1st January, 1970. Currently, these are all bundled together under January 1970 on the iOS Proton Drive app, and cannot be reached at all in a browser. Without this feature, Drive is useless for sharing my father's photos.

Colab
I observed that some universities across Europe relays only on Google Colab to make, test, synch, share code during their classrooms.
The idea is to have some kind of interface, similar to what google does, to be able to develop code, test it's functionalities, store sources at drive (text based files), and even better if Lumo can help developing code as Gemini does.
Having such a tool can be a good argument to induce EU agents to switch from their current US based big techs providers, to a secure development platform, thinking in necessary privacy for research and investigation topics.

Notes and Memo related
I think there should be a feature for text notes and memo in drive or seperate app. It would be very helpful, if it existed.

Workbooks (Sheets) Statistic Bar
Both Google Docs and Microsoft have a feature that when you select cells, if they are of the same data type, you will get an average, sum, min, max, and count of total selected cells. This could be across rows, or in columns. This is very helpful if you need a quick sum of fields, without creating a new field to calculate those values.
This value shows up in the very bottom right.

Support creating nested folders with path syntax (mkdir -p style)
When creating a new folder, allow users to enter a path with forward slashes to create the entire folder hierarchy in one step.
Example:
EnteringPhotos/Events/2021_09_Wedding/Aperitifin the "Folder name" input would create all four nested folders at once.Expected behavior:
- Folders that already exist are silently skipped
- Only missing folders in the path are created
- Works likemkdir -pon Linux/macOSWhy this helps:
Currently, organizing files into a deep folder structure requires creating each folder individually, navigating into it, then creating the next one. This is tedious when setting up a new hierarchy or importing…5 votes -
Proton Docs: Convert footnotes from docx to Docs files and show comments on download
I work in Ulysses (Markdown) and export to Word, store the docx files in Proton Drive and share with a collaborator, and we work together in Docs. While passages marked with the "::" code show as highlighted in docs, footnotes created in markdown, which show up in docx, do not show up in Docs files.
There seems to be no way to download a docs file in any format and have the comments made in the docs file show up in the downloaded file. If there is, please let me know. If not, please consider adding this feature. Thanks.

Photos: OCR/Text scanning and photo text search
In iCloud Photos, I find it very useful that in my massive photo library I can search for text appearing in my photos. This makes searching for old pictures of documents (like a business card from three years ago) very easy. Optical Character Recognition (OCR), from my understanding, is much less computationally intensive than image classification or facial recognition, so it would be easier to implement before those in Proton Drive to scan your library and easier to run via local models, and still add a lot in terms of search functionality.

See and scroll all the Photos in my Drive
I'd like to switch from Dropbox to use a European and privacy-oriented software and I'm using since some years Protonmail and Vpn.
I tried your Proton Drive app and website, but both systems are not showing in the photos page all the pictures that I've saved in my cloud space. It's a bit of a pity, because sometimes I think that it's just simple and nice to look for a picture or image scrolling in a page in chronologically order, like Dropbox does.
It would be nice if Proton Drive would work like that.4 votes -
A WeTransfer download directly from Proton Drive
Right click on a file or folder and send a download link. No need to create a shared folder, no need for the receiver to create a Proton account; just a download like WeTransfer or Dropbox Transfer.

Local cache
Other cloud providers have a local cache that you can set the size of, that just retains your most recently opened files so you're not having to re-download them every time you open them. I realise you can set specific files or folders to be available locally, but it's a pain having to do this when you have lots of different files (drawing files is what I'm thinking of) with large (GB) attachments. With a cache they're just available while actively working with them, and then they eventually get pushed back off the local drive when you're no longer opening…

The ability to preview content inside archives. (zip, rar, etc.)
As the title says. I find this feature to be of great use to those of us who clutter lots of files inside archives. I find it a bit annoying that proton drive doesn't support said feature when competitors like Mega and Dropbox do.
