Enable 'rclone' to give you access to the Proton Drive as part of the Mac file system, or produce a Terminal app yourselves.
I've used the command-line program 'rclone' to show my Proton Drive as part of my Mac file system, so I can backup files from a Terminal. It's dead slow, but it worked. Then, two days ago, I ran
rclone mount proton: ~/ProtonDrive \
--vfs-cache-mode writes \
--tpslimit 0.3 \
--transfers 1 \
--checkers 1 \
--low-level-retries 1 \
--timeout 10s \
--daemon --protondrive-replace-existing-draft=true
and it said
"CRITICAL: Failed to create file system for "proton:": couldn't initialize a new proton drive instance: 422 POST https://mail.proton.me/api/auth/v4: We are detecting potentially abusive traffic coming from your network and have temporarily blocked logins. If…4 votes -
Start Drive sync while 'preparing'
Apologies, not sure if "new feature" or 'change to existing feature'.
Setting up Proton Drive on a new machine or after a re-format - it spends HOURS "Setting up... (x items prepared for sync)" before it actually starts syncing.
Why can't it start syncing what is already 'prepared' while figuring out the rest? Would be a HUGE QoL improvement for users and save a TON of time getting people up and running.

shared
Must Have: Moving files from a shared and owned folder (and vice versa) in the online web version of proton drive instead of on the local drive of a laptop or pc.

Share folders and files with admin rights
Currently you can only share files with other email addresses as viewer or editor.
You should be able to share as admin with full rights: sharing, moving, deleting, ...
This goes for folders as well.7 votes -
Add Conditional Sync Pause Feature for Proton Drive
I use Proton Drive to back up certain files for a game. However, it causes significant performance issues when the game is running due to constant synchronization. Currently, I have to manually pause the syncing, which requires me to remember to manually sync the files later.
A feature that pauses syncing based on specific conditions would be very helpful. These conditions could include:
- When a window is in full-screen mode
- When certain processes are running (like games)
This feature would benefit not only gamers but also anyone who needs a stable internet connection during critical tasks.

Proton Sheets - Formulas ex ods/xlsx files returns errors
Doing a copy/paste from an ods/xlsx file returns errors where formulas where introduced (#Name!]...
... and it doesn't overtake the formatting (bold, underline, etc.).It's better to start from scratch when it goes about formulas/formatting.

Folder slider view and browsing improvements in Android app
When browsing multiple files in a folder, I don't see the slider on the right and I don't know how much space is left. Also, when I open a file and then return, I often end up not where I left off. Please fix this, as it's very annoying.

Auto trim Trash item older the XX days
Compared to other Web Drive providers, Proton Drive lacks a feature where items whose 'Deleted Time' exceeds a certain threshold (i.e. 30 days) get automatically deleted by the system.
There are a number of reasons as to why this might be so. One possible reason could be that, due to data encryption on Proton's side, they cannot view certain metadata of the file, such as its 'Deleted Time'. This would then exclude any attempts by the server to perform housekeeping duties. The solution is to move the deletion routine into the user clients instead. All the server has to do…

Be able to edit files using local apps and store back to Protondrive
Would be nice to be able to work with files directly in protondrive (in essence have protondrive as a folder on my computer). So I can open the files and save them back to PD.

Speed up downloads from Proton Drive using shared links
I've shared a folder that was about 337 MB using a share link. The downloads are abysmally slow at 47.83 KB/s to 185.54 KB/s. Then the download fails at less than a third of the way through.
I'm on a paid plan. Replicated with the person whom I shared the folder. Both of us can't download it.
Both of us are on different high bandwidth fiber internet plans and have no issues with other content.

bulk transfer (main issue)
essential functionality:
- transfer within PD from one folder to another or across f.e. from a computer folder to a share folder and more; no limitations;
- bulk transfer of data from PD as a download or to another service like TransferNow5 votes -
Ensure I can select and upload multiple files and folders at once, without having to upload files one by one (mobile)
Currently the mobile app on IpadOS and Android doesn’t support the upload and of an entire folder of files or photos. It also doesn’t support an easy way to multi-select files via a swipe, like the Os prescribes.
Use case: When I export photos from Lightroom I want to upload them in bulk. Currently, on the web, I can use the OS-Level multi-select behavior to launch an upload of an entire folder. On the apps this is not possible, especially on IpadOS this functionality is very rudimentary. Without this feature, the apps are useless for me.

Make it easy to browse photos that are stored only in the cloud
I can easily use Dropbox to browse photos that I've stored in the cloud. As soon as I tap on any item in a given list of images, Dropbox automatically generates a low-resolution version of that photo and serves it up to me in a preview window that is located right next to the list of images. Dropbox probably automatically starts generating previews in the background for whatever image folder I'm currently viewing, because I can quickly browse my entire photo collection just by swiping left or right in that preview window.
The web interface (but not the Apple mobile…

Backup of .TMP files
I recently learned through your Customer Support service that Proton Drive won't back up files with the .TMP extension, as it considers them temporary files.
The issue is, I have a program stored in my Proton Drive that contain files with a .TMP extension, but I know for a fact that they are not temporary, but essential for the program to work.
My suggestion is to either remove this restriction entirely, or to add a Settings option to allow users who select it to sync temporary files as well.

Saved and existing images in the cloud
Images that have already been uploaded to the cloud should then be clearly visible under Photos. If you have many folders with images in the cloud, they should be organized and visible as albums under Photos. Otherwise, the feature is useless for many people.

Add Simple Diagram Feature in Proton Docs
Hi Proton team,
It would be great to have a simple built-in diagram feature in Proton Docs — something lightweight to create quick flowcharts or concept maps directly in a document. Nothing complex, just basic shapes and connections to visualize ideas easily without leaving the editor.
And if you ever need someone to build it, I’m available! 😄
Thanks for considering it!

API Checksum
I keep most of my personal/project files in a folder structure that 'lives' in the cloud, but has a full offline mirror on my main devices (desktop and laptop). From my point of view this is an essential quality of life thing, and I have no idea how other people survive without doing this.
The problem I have now is that I'm on linux, automating my mirroring with rclone. Rclone is great, but if a file gets corrupted during the sync process, it can't tell, which is A PROBLEM because over time with repeated syncs, corrupted files can potentially end…

Hide identity of uploader
Currently, a publicly shared folder in proton drive shows the address of whomever uploaded it, and this address cannot be changed to a different one than that originally tied to your account as far as I can tell.
This can be gotten around by uploading from a private window with no login, however it would be nice if it was simply an option to change or hide the identifier, at least for those who the folder is shared to or used a public share link.
