How can we improve Proton Calendar?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.

  1. I would like to have continuous syncing between my Google calendar & Protonmail Calendar

    So I was able to sync my calendar one time to my Google calendar. However, changes have been made to my Google calendar (by clients, unfortunately I don't want them having access to my Protonmail calendar and I can't get rid of Google due to third party integrations). Can we have a feature to where Proton Calendar continuously syncs with my Google calendar daily/hourly instead of a one-time import and none of the changes since that one-time import now show???

  2. Do not sync which calendars to show between different applications (web/mobile)

    Currently we can toggle which calendars to show in the mobile app (in this case Android) and the web.

    However, this setting also syncs across devices, which is inconvenient.

    On the big screen on PC I want to see more calendars than on mobile. Especially in the homescreen widget.

    However, whenever I disable some calendars which I do not want to pollute the homescreen widget on mobile, they get hidden on the web as well and vice versa appear on mobile when I show them on the web.

    While this is not a dealbraker, it is annoying to always have…

  3. Weekly preview widget

    The actual widget on Android shows the planned events one after another, as a list. It would be nice to have a better and configurable preview of the week.

    The need being to have a clear view of the week with one look. Another need is to see the available slots (i.e. tuesday 10 to 12 is free) quickly, using a nice layout.

    The latter can be with 7 columns, representing each day of the week. Rows would be the hours, configurable as needed (i.e from 8am to 8pm every 2 hours).

  4. Option to show calendar title event in email notification

    Proton Calendar email notifications currently do not show the title of the calendar event (e.g. Reminder: event starting on Friday, March 4 (all day)). When emailing to the companion Proton Mail account, the email notification should include the calendar subject (e.g. Reminder: Jimmy's Birthday, Friday, March 4 (all day)).

  5. Agenda list view

    The web calendar has a "Day", "Week" and "Month" view selection. I suggest adding an "Agenda" view as in Google Calendar. This simply is a list view of coming events.

    Why? To present a more compact view of future events.

  6. Quick import event from ICS in the create calendar dropdown menu

    I don't use proton email for work, but I use proton calendar as my main calendar app. I get a lot of calendar invites sent to my work email with an ICS file attached, so my main way of adding these events is to go to setting/import and export and do the import there. But this two-step process is quite slow.

    So instead, can we have an extra Add event from ICS file in the "+" sign dropdown next to "My calendar"? I suppose this should be simple to add but this could be a huge convenience for the users.

  7. Sync subscribed external calendars more often.

    I subscribed to my personal Remeber The Milk calendar and it would be a lot nicer if it didn't take a day for my tasks to show up in the calendar. Of course an (almost) immediate sync would be optimal, but four times a day would be better too.

  9. Edit events in an external calendar

    Enable creating, editing and deleting events in external calendars.

    Currently you can only add an external calendar as view only:

    I have a Google cal shared with multiple people (they all use Gcal). We all add and update events and receive notifications. I would like to continue to do all of this but using my proton calendar.

  10. Customize calendar widgets

    The new calendar widget is awesome! I can now actually switch to use proton calendar as my main calendar app.

    One thing I would really like to see is the ability to make the widget background transparent. I guess to make it suitable for other user's requirements, it could perhaps allow the user to select a color (including transparency value).

    This would allow me to make the calendar look nice on my homescreen and let me see more of my background. Currently it's the only thing with a colored background so it stands out a bit.

    Attaching files from proton drive to the calendar event.

    Robust options in calendar event that integrate any calendar event with proton ecosystem services.

    The calendar should work as a calendar based planner with options to:

    1. Create tasks, assign tasks
    2. Group tasks to projects
    3. Attach files to tasks, events, projects

  12. Have many more color options for the calendars

    Have many more ranges of colors thant we could define in a color rainbow to choose for the calendars, as it is the case for google clanedar or infomaniak.

  13. Audio alarms/reminders for events

    Very few calendar apps allow you to set an alarm for the event that has an audible reminder like an alarm clock app would. This would be super helpful so I don't accidentally overlook an event.

  14. In week or month view make the current day more noticeable

    The current day in week or month view is not very distinguishable. It will be better if:
    1. In month view you make a slight change in color of the whole day square.
    2. In week view the same for the current day column

    I know you can add multiple reminders to calendar events, but it would be nice to be able to "snooze" a reminder for various lengths of time.

  16. Event date before 1970

    I've been trying to create a birthday event for family born before 1970 so that I can accurately track their age... sounds silly, but I can't seem to create an event starting before the year 1970.

  17. Proton Mail Android - Landscape orientation

    Please add support for landscape orientation. I use a tablet (Galaxy Tab S7) and it is very annoying when I open an application that does not support landscape mode (Instagram for example). Especially today, where we have tablets replacing computers. Just take a look at Samsung Dex and the keyboard cases for iPads and tablets. Those were made to be used in landscape mode.

    Also, please add the setting to change the time format. I would like to display mine as 24h instead of AM/PM.

  18. 4-day view of the agenda - in addition to 1 or 7 days

    It would be nice to be able to show on the screen 4 days (today + next 3), instead of the whole week ( where the columns are really small and days far ahead don't matter as much), and 1 day only doesn't allow to plan ahead in the week.

    I guess 3-day view would also do it much better than current options

  19. streamline Timezone features

    when creating new event on web UI
    1) adjusting timezone needs to be done twice, separately. please enable by default that both timezones be changed just when we change one of them (doesn't matter which one0

    2) even better, like the android app, perhaps allow the web UI by default only have 1 timezone selection for both starting and ending time. and can add a further option if start and end time needs to be in different time zones (less common i would guess)

    3) easy search for timzeone in android app and web UI. right now it's a painful…

  20. app invites (calendar)

    i'd like to be able to accept calendar invites and send them out to attendees through the app, not just the desktop version. clunky having to do it through the desktop only
