Proton Home – Smart Home Management by Proton
I’d like to propose a new service called Proton Home.
The idea is to have a central platform where users can manage all their smart home devices securely and easily, directly from their Proton account. With Proton Home, you could:
Control smart lights, thermostats, cameras, and other smart devices.
Set up automation routines (like turning off lights when leaving home).
Share device access securely with family members or trusted people.
Monitor device activity and energy usage in one dashboard.
Keep everything private and encrypted, in line with Proton’s privacy-first approach.
Essentially, Proton Home would allow users to manage their smart…

I switched to Proton because I hate AI and it seems more reliable than gmail.
So please get rid of your chatbot. Nobody needs that. If your selling point is meant to be privacy and no chatbots, stick to that please and have some principles

Native support for Sailfish OS
There's already an idea for ProtonMail and ProtonDrive dating back to 2016, but it would be desirable to implement this for all apps. This would make a Google-free operating system increasingly realistic, as you wouldn't need all the Google services. Not even microG.
Especially since Jolla (https://jolla.com) places a strong emphasis on data protection and privacy with its OS (https://sailfishos.org). This aligns very well with Proton's philosophy, particularly in light of the upcoming release of the new Jolla Phone.
I, and hopefully other users as well, would welcome direct, native support. I don't know how deeply…

CO2e-neutrality pledge
Alphabet (Google) has abandonned their CO2e-neutrality pledge and schedule, because of the energy cost of AI.
Now is the time to shine for Proton, by taking the vacant place that is offered!!
It would be extremely popular, especially in Europe, and would push a lot of climate-conscious people from other service providers towards Proton.

Proton Sheets - alternating row colours please!
It is a small detail, but being able to create alternating row colours makes a big difference in making visually appealing sheets that do not rely on gridlines to be readable.
thank you!

Reactivate Proton's Mastodon account!
What a shame deactivating Proton's Mastodon account without any announcement, but only a change on the account's description!

Feature Suggestion: Automated Personal Data Removal
I greatly value Proton’s commitment to protecting user privacy through your suite of encrypted services. However, I see an opportunity to enhance the user experience and strengthen Proton’s value proposition even further.
Currently, users who want to remove their personal information from the internet must manually contact data brokers, websites, and search engines ... a time-consuming and ongoing task. I suggest Proton develop a Personal Information Removal System that would:
- Scan and Identify: Automatically detect where a user’s personal data is publicly available or held by data brokers.
- Automate Removal Requests: Send verified opt-outs or deletion requests on behalf of…

Professional/Academic-level Writing Support in Proton Docs
I am working hard to de-Google, de-Meta, de-Amazon, and de-Microsoft my life. I would love to switch my word processing needs entirely over to Proton Docs, but I need to write at a high academic level, including things like postdoc applications, journal articles, and books, and the support for that just isn't there, especially in things like footnotes and references/bibliographies. I know there are a lot of free alternatives to MS Word out there, like Google Docs, but I want to know for a fact that my writing won't be scraped for AI training.

Ability to share files/folders with non-proton users by sharing a link and password instead of having to create an account
Absolutely need the ability to share a link to a file or folder on Proton Drive with a non-proton user without them having to create an account at all, e.g. proton user could simply share a password with the recipient and they could then access the file or folder via a link with that password.
The fact recipients have to create an account makes them opt out and request the use of unsecured channels for file sharing. This is NOT the way. Please add this ability to remove this important element of friction that’s preventing users from using proton services…

Landscape mode for Proton Calendar
Please add landscape mode for Proton Calendar. For tablet users, this is vital. For a calendar, landscape mode makes it much easier to see all events. In horizontal mode, many events are being squeezed on screen and not shown. It is very annoying having to constantly change the direction of one's tablet, when multitasking between the calendar and other apps.
Other Proton apps already have horizontal mode and it works great.

LaTex rendering in Lumo
When using Lumo in my web browser (both Firefox and Librewolf) LaTex does not render properly. For example, Lumo returned the following:
[ x^T A x \geq 0 \quad \forall x ]
instead of the actual LaTex rendering.
It would be nice if you could have Lumo actually render this.

Proton Notification Carrier
It would be nice to see proton come out with their own notification carrier services. Especially if you are using a phone operating system without google play carrier services/ apple and can't receive push notifications.

Proton Sheets: support localization settings
Currently the localization settings to format numbers or dates seems to be locked into the OS locale or hardcoded to English.
This setting should be customizable per Sheet to allow for different formatting of data.

Make a announcement specifiying the ethics of how Proton will approach AI
It's hard to tell the extent to which AI will play a role in the future technological landscape, so it's important that Proton establishes and makes clear their ethics for designing AI products.
https://www.ted.com/talks/yoshua_bengio_the_catastrophic_risks_of_ai_and_a_safer_path
He said he is currently working on a "Scientist AI" that would try to understand the world, not change it. This would allow people access to unbiased predictions that would work for the interests of humans, not for AI's interests and its self-preservation.I believe this TED talk may help Proton with developing their stance; maybe Proton could have a "scientist AI" approach as mentioned in…

videoconferencing
Hello,
I'm a French independant social and family economics advisor (social worker) and I'm looking for a secure videoconferencing tool. I hope Proton will offer this as part of one of its subscriptions soon.

New Product Proposal: Lumen — A Proton Browser That Illuminates the Path to True Privacy
Imagine a web browser built with Proton’s guiding philosophy at its core — a platform where privacy, intelligence, and design coexist in harmony. This vision takes form as Lumen, a new kind of browser designed to unite Proton’s ecosystem into a single, secure experience.
The name Lumen means light or illumination, symbolizing clarity, transparency, and enlightenment — the very principles Proton stands for. It captures the essence of a browser that helps users navigate safely through the modern web’s dark corners while illuminating truth, privacy, and control. Lumen is more than a browsing tool; it is a guide — shedding…
