We have given this quite a bit of thought, but at the present moment, it is not clear the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages.
The biggest problem is search. Encrypting all metadata would break metadata search entirely on the web client as there is still no efficient way to handle search of encrypted data within a browser.
Secondly, metadata encryption’s value from a privacy standpoint is also somewhat dubious. Because we ultimately must deliver the message to the recipient, we must know who the recipient is. At the current time, there still isn’t any proven and viable way to work around this.
Metadata encryption is an area of continued research for us, and when the opportunity arises and the technology for doing this matures, we will definitely implement it in ProtonMail.

ProtonMail offers encrypted contacts for both web and mobile applications (https://protonmail.com/blog/encrypted-contacts-manager/). Calendar and note functionality will be released in the future.

Zusätzliche Details:
Schritte zum Reproduzieren:
1. Excel-Datei (.xlsx) mit einer Zelle erstellen, die mehrere Sätze durch manuelle Zeilenumbrüche (Alt+Enter) getrennt enthält
2. Datei in Proton Drive hochladen
3. Datei mit Proton Sheets öffnen (oder als neues Sheet importieren)
4. Betroffene Zelle anklicken/ansehen
Beobachtetes Ergebnis:
Statt eines Zeilenumbruchs erscheint im Zellinhalt der Text "
" (und teilweise "	" für Tabulatoren) als sichtbarer Klartext, z.B.:
"Jesus zeichnet sich durch Sanftmut aus.
Er vergibt seinen Feinden.
..."
Umgebung:
- Browser: [hier deinen Browser/Version eintragen, z.B. Chrome 128 auf macOS]
- Ursprungsdatei erstellt in: Microsoft Excel
Workaround (funktioniert, aber unpraktisch bei grossen Tabellen):
Zeilenumbrüche in den Zellen vor dem Export manuell entfernen bzw. Datei stattdessen als CSV exportieren/importieren.
Das betrifft potenziell alle Nutzer, die grössere bestehende Excel-Tabellen mit Fliesstext in einzelnen Zellen zu Proton Sheets migrieren wollen – aktuell macht das den Import für solche Dateien unbrauchbar, ohne die Datei vorher manuell zu bereinigen.
