   Acquire Ente like Ben M wrote or fork Immich like Pixelunion has done, it doesn't matter. But a standalone app with features in line with the competition would be much appreciated.

   I am using Proton Drive as main backup (or secondary location) for my Photos with iCloud being my photos main home. I can't really see the current Photos function being any more than that as it is currently. The roadmap for the second half of 2026 looked bleak for phoros functionality as well unfortunately.

    For me it isn't possible to migrate my photos to Proton Drive if it's not possible to buy more storage without leaving the Unlimited Plan.

    Why not just copy Apple iCloud? 500GB (better than their 200GB) and then 2T, 6TB, 12TB.

    Calendar integration or a standalond app such as Apple Reminders and Google Tasks is a logical next step.
