  1. Automatically detect language for spell check

I write emails using both English and French. My browser has several dictionaries installed, but Proton Mail spell checker doesn't seem to know the difference.

What would be neat is if Proton Mail could recognise the typed language (as for instance MS Outlook does), and do spell check accordingly.

  2. Booking calendar —> free time before and after a bookable appointment

Booking calendar —> additional setting in the booking page configuration —> free time before and after a bookable appointment (break between meetings) … would be very nice and practical.

  3. Email translator

It would be extremely important for Proton Mail to have a simultaneous translator to translate emails and, if possible, with integrated AI.

  4. Autofill Location for Events

Some calendars like iOS and Gmail have a location feature that as you type the name of a place, the address (or addresses) appear and allow you to select it. I would like to see this as a feature; I think it would be a great improvement to how selecting a location works now. Now, you have to click the place or link after an event has been added and it will open either Maps, Google Maps, or Waze to ask which place is the correct one you're looking for.

  5. I would like to be able to sort my emails by sender.

Sort my emails by sender so that I can delete those I no longer want or need. I can do that in Yahoo and Gmail.

  6. Stop serving ads to your paid users

When using the web browser client, paid users get served Proton's own adverts in the form of promotional bars. Please give us the option to opt out of your own ads.

  7. Proton Mail Android - Landscape orientation

Please add support for landscape orientation. I use a tablet (Galaxy Tab S7) and it is very annoying when I open an application that does not support landscape mode (Instagram for example). Especially today, where we have tablets replacing computers. Just take a look at Samsung Dex and the keyboard cases for iPads and tablets. Those were made to be used in landscape mode.

Also, please add the setting to change the time format. I would like to display mine as 24h instead of AM/PM.

    Thank you!

  8. Multiple Inboxes

The only feature that keep me on gmail vs. protonmail is the multiple inbox organization (not related to different addresses - underlying for a new post). The creation of multiple inboxes is extremely powerful to implement "Getting things done"-like methodology (ex.: https://dansilvestre.com/gtd-gmail/) and improve significantly my productivity.
I am looking forward for this feature in Protonmail.

  9. Set a default address/alias per contact.

How about we could set a default address/alias per contact if we have multiple addresses/aliases.
Isn't it great protonmail webapp could change sender address according to receiver automatically so friends could get mails from a personal address/alias and business partners could get mails from a business address/alias always?

  10. Auto-Archive Email

Outlook provides the ability to set rules for automatically archiving email based on age and folder/label. Rules like this allow a user to keep their mailbox clean and reduce storage utilization.

It would be fantastic if we could set the following:

    1. A default auto-archive age for all mail.
    2. Set custom auto-archive ages for a certain folder or label that overrides the default.

Even if the default is set to "Off" for everyone, I'd love this ability.

  12. Add proper contact sync for iOS and android

Similar issue posted earlier but closed prematurely by Proton:

    https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail-calendar/suggestions/9825453-contacts-sync-in-the-mobile-phone-app

We need to be able to sync proton contacts with phone contacts on Android and iOS. I am unable to completely migrate from Gmail without this.

  13. 'Delete Permanently' button in the taskbar

Until the recent upgrade, one could delete emails permanently from the All Mail view. Since the upgrade, it appears you can only delete permanently from the Trash. I would like to have this feature back so I don't have to first move emails from the inbox to the trash before I delete them.

    Thank you,

    Loren White

  16. auto advance on Archive email

When I archive an email it advances automatically to the next email. I wish for that to be an optional setting, so users can choose if they prefer to go to the inbox (current design) or go to the next email. (and next being either the next newer message or the next older message)

Furthermore if the user is already looking at the newest message, and there is no newer message, it instead just goes to the next new message (in gmail it annoyingly goes to the inbox if there is no newer message)

  17. Opt out of FCM and Google Services - Firebase

Changing the android app (and others) to not use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) or any service provided by Google.

Settings to use other services (opt out of FCM) for push notifications:
    - Unified Push
    - Proton push notification service (if developed)

  18. Proper support for Format=flowed

Proton is particularly bad at supporting plain text email. There’s no support for format=flowed in the interface but, even worse : any mail sent through Proton SMTP will see its format=flowed header removed.

This was a bug highly discussed in the Bridge Github ticketing system before it was sent offline.

Please allow people to use Proton and the Bridge through plaintext (Mutt, Emacs, Alpine are widely used amongst the privacy geeks crowd)

  19. Thunderbird native support

It would be nice that you support Thunderbird natively, not with Proton Bridges, maybe with a plugin
I'd like also native support for Thunderbird for Android

  20. Provide more control over alias generation

Email aliases are automatically generated using a pattern like (title)(random number).(random word)(random number)@passinbox.com. The only part of this that the user controls is the title.

If users are not allowed to directly choose aliases, then there should at least be an easy way (like a button) to generate a new random alias. Currently you must close the create dialog and reopen it to get a different alias. The problem is that the random words often have negative connotations, which makes the aliases unacceptable for things like resumes.
