Add Auto-Forwarding as an Action in Filters
I voted for the request to "Auto forwarding rules based on Folder". While this would be great, if you add forwarding an email as an action in Filters, you would have the option of labeling forwarded emails or putting forwarded emails in a specific folder. I would really like the option of adding a label to forwarded emails. I forward emails from our financial institutions to my wife, and a label like "forward to wife", would help me to see that I am forward all of the appropriate emails.

Suggest email sender based on recipient's email
If you copy an email or want to create a new email, it always uses your default email as the sender. Sometimes this causes you to use the wrong sender address for certain recipients. The only way to avoid this now is to always be attentive and remember that I have to check which sender email I'm using.
The proposed idea is: based on the recipient's email, it would suggest that you change your sender email.
For example, if I always receive emails from a bank at alias2, when I'm composing a new email to them, a pop-up would suggest…

i love proton mail and calender so much for my business. i use it because i do not trust american companies and this is the best alternative, maybe even better. but the fact that i cannot sync my proton with any 3th party services for my business software erp. like i cannot sync my calender and such forces me to still create a google business account instead of proton. so it would be amazing if u could like find a way to make 3th party integrations alot easier.

MacOS/IOS Right Click menu in the Proton App
Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, as a forenote
A big thing for me is being able to use the text features that Apple has in their right-click menu, including the AI rewrite and format options for text, including being able to summarize text in, say, the Apple Notes app, but Proton’s app only has basic copy-and-paste options. It would be cool to see all those other features in the app so I can use a muscular memory I already have. Thanks !2 votes -
HTML support for calender description
So some auotmatic email invitations contain HTML content or other tags inside of the description. Proton should add support for it so the description is not make hard to read by "<center>" or something like that between the words
Please consider this for the rewrite its not urgent but would enhance the experience

SDK for third-party Mail & Calendar apps
Could Proton provide an official SDK that lets third party iOS and android apps support Proton mail and calendar. So not a mail bridge app for ios/android instead let apps support it directly.
I’d love to use apps like Fantastical with proton. I have both work and personal mail/calendars, and having to use four separate apps is frustrating.
Would something like this be technically possible while maintaining protons security/privacy?

Make the iOS calendar app much faster.
Every time I open the calendar app on my iPhone, it takes several seconds before my appointments are visible. Also, when I want to look ahead, say, a month, I often have to count to five before I can see all the appointments for that day. Switching back and forth between days gets really annoying over time.
So it would be great if the app could load appointments faster!

How about the "export tool doesn't have a trojan in it?"
I've been trying to back up my emails using the ludicrous command line "export tool" and it's just tried to infect my computer with this fancy little fellow. I have all the screenshots. I waited up over 40 minutes in the hope that it might actually work this time and then BitDefender threw a complete wobbly. Any chance we can have a real way of downloading our emails, please?

Customisable windows like in Gmail - the one thing I miss so much about them.
Okay, I'll describe it to you since it's best. Before Gmail went dangerously rogue on me for reasons I still don't understand, I was something of a power user, and I had this beautiful elaborate setup (which I now again have access to, some years later), which I would best describe as one large window titled "main" down the left side of the screen, and three much smaller ones on the right, one I entitled "important stuff" which was filtered anything from my family or finance related and further colour-coded with labels etc; the one below it was purely stuff…

I'm so p*ssed by this idiocy I'm forgetting the exact wording of the dialog that come up on the mobile software, as you used a darlk pattern to impose a functional DOWNGRADE on anybody who adds value to their Inbox by organizing it themselves.
And to think I trusted you so much I ALMOST clicked the default. Never again!
Holy Lord, my entire workflow hence livelihood depends on my Inbox being organized the way I want it organized.

Proton Mail Android app: unlock with device password only, no biometrics
In Proton Mail for Android, Settings > App customization > App lock, there should be another option to unlock with only device credentials, AKA screen lock pin/pattern/password, but no fingerprint or face id, which is part of biometrics. I am requesting this feature because fingerprints and face id can be tricked, whereas a sufficient PIN or password on a user's screen lock is more secure.

Shred message(s), for immediate deletion without going through the trash
Sometimes I get transient emails, like notifications from services that I don't want cluttering up the trash. I'd love an option to manually shred them (maybe option + delete button), and as an action in the filters. You can add additional guardrails ("are you sure), just allow me to ultimately turn them off

Configurable reminders for muted email categories
The new email categories—such as Social, Promotions, and Transactions—are a great way to keep the inbox more organized. However, when a category is muted, it can become easy to forget to check it altogether, even when new messages have arrived.
I would love to see configurable reminders for individual categories. If there are new messages since I last viewed a category, Proton Mail could show a subtle reminder:
- At a chosen time, such as every evening
- At a configurable frequency, for example daily or weekly
- Only when the category contains unread messages since it was last opened

Add support for browser email verification
There's a new browser standard being worked on by Google Chrome and gmail to remove the authentication step when registering or signing in on a website.
If Proton Mail adds the mail provider support on their side, it would make future support for this seamless authentication system that much easier.

Support Email Security Gateways (ESG) the way Google and Microsoft do
Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 already support ESG on incoming and outgoing emails for years. More users and organizations are required to run a gateway nowadays.
What BOTH Google and Microsoft already provide:
1. Declare your gateway IPs as a trusted source.
2. Detect the last hop prior to the gateway (finding the real sender IP).
3. Reject anything that did not come through the gateway IPs.
4. Enforce TLS on the connection from the gateway.
5. Support routing outgoing emails through the gateway.I hope Proton can add support for these 5 features first. Thank you.

Per-event free/busy status toggle in Proton Calendar (essential for appointment scheduling)
Currently, Proton Calendar only allows busy/free status sharing as an all-or-nothing, calendar-level setting. There is no way to mark individual events as "free" or "busy" on a per-event basis — a feature that exists in Google Calendar, Outlook, and most major calendar applications.
This limitation creates a significant functional gap in Proton Calendar's appointment scheduling feature.
