  1. Move photos from photos tab to other folders

Hi, thanks for making Drive available for Linux. I use Fedora 39 KDE.
I also use Photo backup via Android (Samsung S23)
When I open all my files/photos in Linux web browesr, if I right click images, I can move to respective folders. As well as preview, move, rename, get link & delete.
If I open the folder that uploads Photos, via Android, this option is not available. Only download, upload or delete.
Perhaps this is a feature in the making?

  2. Delete phone photos after upload

Option to delete uploaded photos from phone

Just uploading pictures is not enough if I need to check and delete the pictures by hand. There should be the option to one-click delete uploaded pictures or do that automatically after a certain time.

The function of "Easy Switch from Google Photos to Proton Drive" facilitates a seamless and swift transition of your photos from Google Photos to Proton Drive officially, streamlining the process of transferring images between both platforms.

  4. Linux FUSE mount

There's currently no method to securely access Proton Drive as a filesystem on Linux.

I request an application that can be used to mount a drive to the filesystem with on-the-fly encryption/decryption.

The application should ensure some level of security, such as not storing the account password on the machine, and requiring 2fa at mount time.

This is because the current mechanism people are using, rclone, is not secure: it is almost trivial for malware to copy the rclone configuration file to obtain the user's Proton password. (It is encrypted using a symmetric encryption, with a static key readily available…

  5. Share documents with non-Proton users via link

Currently when I share a document via email, the person I emailed is required to make a Proton account in order to view or edit the shared file. I would like to be able to send someone a link (by email or any other method, such as a private message) and they should be able to open and view the file. Google Drive does this.

  6. iOS upload photos in the background

It is my understanding the iOS photos will upload to Proton drive only if you open the Proton drive app, but it would be much better for photos to be backed up automatically, without needing to open the Proton Drive app.

  7. Organize pictures with folders or tags

So I just don't understand how we ended up without any way to organize the photo section of proton drive? I mean it's only organized by date essentially as close as I can tell.

The problem comes when comparing this to Google photos which I currently pay for and have significant data there, is they allow me to take the files and put keywords in the files under the details area.

Google also allows me to make folders of specific photos, so they can be organized. I'm just wondering if we can't put some folders in proton drive / photos…

  8. View and edit docs without an account

It would be cool if anyone with a shareable link could view and edit the document, similar to google docs for example.

This would greatly lower the barrier for me to use it regularly, as I could share it when planning events or doing a group project with people that don't have proton accounts.

I genuinely believe docs is a way better experience to use for most things I would usually use word/google/etc. for, and this would allow even more people to get familiar with it.

Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

  10. Copy Dropbox's Selective Sync feature - choose what NOT to pull from the cloud

Dropbox has a feature they refer to as "Selective Sync". It allows me to select folders that have been synced to the cloud by other computers using my Dropbox account that I do NOT want to have accessible on this computer. I am trying to switch from Dropbox to Proton Drive, but the lack of this feature is giving me heartburn. On one of my machines, I have thousands of files that I want to be backed up offsite, but I don't want them to show up on all my other computers that use PD. I realize they are just…

  12. Nix package for linux client

The first step would be making a linux-compatible client (see https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932839-proton-drive/suggestions/45271456-linux-client).

After that, making it into a nix package would be trivial.

  14. photo desktop

    Hello!

These features are VERY essential for a minimum usefulness of the app...

    • Photo folder (so far only available on web view - why???) should be synced with the desktop versions on a "Photo" folder
    • We must be able to move the photos to Drive folders
    • Syncing of the backed up photos in a folder-to-folder system, where a folder named as the original source is created inside the "Photo" folder
    • Like many other ideas posted here: albuns organization, filters by date / creation / etc.

    Thanks!

  15. Proton Gallery, a Cloud Gallery is the future

We need our own Proton Gallery, separate from Proton Drive, it doesn't make sense to literally have two apps in one, I was using Ente Photos and the app is amazing in what it proposes, much better than Google's 'drive photos', but it's an app with limited functions for now, maybe because it's still in the first version.

Having a Gallery and a cloud is a dream of Android users, only Apple devices had this function a long time ago, being able to organize and do various things within a cloud is something incredible, unfortunately applications with this ability only…

  16. Warn/prohibit use of filenames incompatible with filesystems commonly used on Windows, macOS, Linux.

Currently Proton drive does not warn when files saved, e.g. in macOS, have filenames incompatible with Windows filesystems. It would be greatly appreciated if a user was warned before the conflict arise when trying to check synchronisation in a different OS.

  17. Add an option to create a table of contents in Proton Docs

Please add an option to create a table of contents (a summary) in Proton Docs.

A table of contents is very useful for presenting a summary of the various elements, such as a report or specification.

Thank you Proton for your work.

  18. Proton Docs :: ASCII docs and LaTeX Support

Proton Docs is such a welcome addition! Thank you!

Will you please add collaborative LaTeX support with the encrypted proton flair?

Overleaf is an existing product that enables collaborative LaTeX document editing which is great for formal documentation, but it lacks encryption that is often required by standards bodies, large organizations, or sensitive industries.

  19. Move backed up photos to a folder

Right now, photos backed up from a phone can't be moved around like normal files and must remain in the Photos tab.

It would be great to treat photos like normal files and be able to sort them into different drive folders once they got backed up.

Right now the only way to do that is to upload your photos folder manually.

  20. Sync file deletion between local and cloud storage

In the proton drive app, you choose folders to sync to the cloud. But when you delete a file from Proton Drive, its local copy is not deleted from your computer. However, when delete a local file, its cloud copy is automatically deleted.

This can cause problems, for example if you rename or otherwise edit a local file that is in a synced folder but whose cloud copy you have deleted, it's going to create a new cloud copy of it.

My suggestion: Adding two new toggles in the settings. One that would make it so that when you delete…
