1. Download and Upload speed limiter

   In EU most of the countries has bad internet over ASDL, so limiting upload and download speed while syncing files is important, because to big upload can kill whole home network download and vice versa. For example on speed asdl like I have I can upload 2000Kb/s but without limit it can go up to 2300kb/s which kills my internet connection. So I can only use cloud disks which had these limiters build in. For example, Mega, Dropbox, OneDrive and Tresorit has it, but not proton.

2. Delay photo backup

   I often take multiple photos or I take throw-away photos because my chat apps builtin camera is garbage.
   They are then instantly backed up, which means I have to delete them from local storage and then from the Drive.

   It would be really useful if you could set a delay before a photo is uploaded, or if you could set a specific time at which photos are uploaded.

3. Proton Sheets - Allow Charts to be moved to different sheets

   I would really like charts to be able to be moved/pasted to different sheets. There are extremely limited cases where I would want my charts on the same sheet the data is stored on, so this is severely limiting their usability for me.

4. Visual Noise Reduction & New Features for Creatives in Proton Drive

   Dear Proton Team & Community,

   I am a long-time admirer of Proton's commitment to privacy and security, and I am currently evaluating your ecosystem (specifically Proton Mail, Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Docs, Proton Sheets, and Lumo AI) for my professional work as an author, ghostwriter and designer.

   Because I handle highly sensitive, unpublished manuscripts, unique fictional languages, and proprietary world-building data, the zero-access encryption and no-logs policy of Proton Drive are essential for my workflow. However, I am encountering a significant UX/UI hurdle regarding visual organisation that limits my ability to use Proton Drive effectively for creative projects.

   The Challenge: Currently, Proton Drive's folder-based structure forces a rigid, old-school file organisation model (by date, name, sequential order) that resembles outdated workflows from the 1980s and doesn't match how (creative) minds work today.

   Specific Pain Points:

   • Visual noise: File names and metadata are always visible, cluttering the creative space with no option to hide them within chosen folders or file categories for a cleaner creative view.
   • Aspect ratio distortion: Preview images don't display in their natural shapes but are cut into rectangular boxes, making visual scanning difficult.
   • No visual distinction between file types: Standard images, videos, and documents all look the same in the folders. Inspiration for modern file presentation can potentially be drawn from Mymind or milanote although being fundamentally different company models with severe privacy and security downsides.
   • Static folder structures: Static file arrangements (order by name, date or size only) don’t allow free spatial organisation, making moodboard-style file organisation impossible.
   • File types and grouping: Cannot create modern visual clusters/file stacks due to restriction surrounding traditional file formats, making file grouping outside of rigid, hierarchical folder trees impossible. Multiple related files stacked into one swipeable visual unit similar to social media carousels or iOS desktops stacks instead of multi-layered folder trees would further reduce visual noise.
   • Linear folder structure: Cannot create non-hierarchical groupings that match creative thinking patterns. Lack of tags forces duplicates allocated to different folders further amplifying visual noise.
   • Dated workflow: While faster loading and smoother scrolling has been implemented into the Proton Drive photo experience, the folder structures in Proton Drive itself still don’t run smoothly and lack sophisticated shortcuts (e.g.: preview accessed but not exited through space bar; preview of excel and word files not supported at all).

   Specific Requests: 

   1. Visual noise reduction: Ability to hide file names/metadata, aspect ratio preservation, clear visual file distinction, modern file stacking, etc.
   2. Spatial organisation within traditional folder structures: Ability to use traditional folders simultaneously as visual boards by arranging files on a free-form canvas instead of the traditional limitation to archaic folder organisation by name, date or size.
   3. Flexible file organisation outside traditional folder trees: Non-linear grouping (not forced into date/name/sequential order), tagging and metadata that enhances rather than clutters.

   Why This Matters: I am not against traditional folders or file naming conventions, I use them daily. What I'm asking for is freedom in visual handling of my files. Creative work of authors and ghostwriters requires fluidity: In one moment you are working on the fundament, the world-building, the concept images, the character profiles, or even the actual chapters of a story. In the next moment, efficiency becomes the enemy of creativity. In this fluid state of creativity, you need to be able to hide all visual noise in order to dive deep into your world or character depictions, bath in the visuals of the story you created to gain new momentum and ideas before you can dive back into the working state of creativity. This is why the ability to reduce visual noise or archaic workflow disruptions matter to creative minds.

   As a privacy-conscious professional, I am hesitant to implement non-encrypted alternatives like Pinterest, Milanote or the likes for sensitive data is better stored in local and secure file faults such as Proton Drive. If Proton Drive could just bridge the gap between secure storage and modern creative workflow that so many creative writers are missing, it would likely become my primary tool for all creative projects and allow me to completely move my whole workflow to Proton.

   I would appreciate any insight you can share regarding the timeline for any of the above-mentioned features or if there is a specific product team I should direct this feedback to.

5. Option for folders not to show up in feed

   Please add the option for the photos on certain folders not to show up in the timeline/feed.
   It would also be great to be able to move photos from the folders themselves to the trash bin, as well as being able to move photos from one folder to another.

6. Allow rename of file when saving on Android app

   When saving a file on Android by "sharing" from another app, you can choose the destination folder but there doesn't seem to be a way to change the name of the file before you upload it.

   Suggested feature: by tapping on the current name of the file, you can change the name before tapping upload.

8. Upload photos as zip files, or allow one-time import from Google

   I'm in the process of switching off of Google's G-Suite, and moving my photos/videos off there, and into Proton Drive. Google Photos is nice because you can download a bunch of files into a zip file to save bandwidth. It would also be nice to upload that raw zip file into Proton Drive to save upload bandwidth. Upload speeds are usually much slower for folks too, so this would be really helpful.

   Alternatively, it would be great to do a one-time import of photos from Google Photos, and just be done with it :)

9. Voice notes into Proton Drive

   A "Voice Notes" feature in Proton Drive would be nice. You would record your voice notes, sound recording and Drive encrypts it and store the file in Drive cloud automatically.

10. show how many changes processing like onedrive

    like onedrive, there should be a feature where if you are processing files for sync, it should show how many changes are being processed and show how much of it is processed so you get an idea of how far it is into syncing.

12. Increase free data to 10GB from 5GB

    Google allows 15 GB in Gmail+Drive, increasing Proton's to at least 10 GB, preferably on Drive would be big step forvard to help people degoogle.

14. Paste values only

    Please include an option to paste values only in sheets, like Excel or Google Sheets allows to. If I paste some cell content, the fill colour disappears and the alignment is wrong.

16. Copy/pasting Docs files in Proton Drive

    Maybe a minor thing for some but it doesn't seem to be possible to copy/paste Docs files within Proton Drive so they work. At least mine won't sync, even though I do. I have my patients fill out questionnaires by opening a Proton Drive public link and fill out a Docs file. This problem forces me to continuously create new empty docs and paste into them.

18. Proton Sheets - Automatic Import of Comments

    Hi, I really love that Proton Sheets now exists, but I've been using the Comment function in Microsoft Excel a lot, and am desperately missing an automatic import function of all my comments in Excel. Can this feature be added, please?
    The comments that I have created in Excel are far too many for inserting them manually, and I would really love to be able to seamlessly continue working with them in Proton Sheets! =)

19. Better photo management

    It would be great to have another layer of privacy for the 'photos' tab. When I go to the 'photos' tab, all my pictures are out in the open. Anyone behind me can easily see them. The album section is the same because it shows a thumbnail. It would be good if we could:
    1. create private folders to store photos in or make certain photos private
    2. add an additional layer before looking at pictures. (like 'My files' - you can create a folder before seeing your files)
    3. a way to activate/deactivate the picture preview

20. Different storage options

    We need higher and smaller storage options. If I need to buy 1TB storage, I should able to buy it without buying Duo plan. And also we need smaller plans. Some people need less storage than 500GB. So, there should be a plan which has 100GB storage.
