1. Suggestions for Billing and Payment Options

   I have two ideas that could make your service even more convenient for customers:
   1. It would be very helpful if the billing date could be adjusted directly in the user dashboard.
   2. Additionally, it would be desirable if personal accounts could also pay via direct debit, similar to what is currently available for business plans.

3. Allow us to create other accounts with custom domains we already have tied to existing accounts

   Having me be able to use a custom email domain for my account is cool, however, limiting what I can do with the domain that I PAID FOR, is entirely overstepping boundaries. I should be able to create a new email under my account using my custom domain, and then be able to create an entirely separate proton account using that email with my custom domain. Just because a domain is tied to one proton account should not stop it from being able to create other proton accounts, all this is making me do is consider not using proton to manage my email and cancel my visionary subscription.

   ADDITIONALLY, what is the point of aliases if I cannot use them to do the same thing? If I have a domain I registered solely for the purpose of making aliases for it, stopping me from making free proton accounts with the domain I bought with my own money is also insane.

   And when I say "proton accounts" I don't mean 15, or 50, or 500; I mean like 5, tops. I want a work@domain.com account I can use to separate my work passwords from my personal passwords as I don't want all of my passwords being logged in at work; but I also don't want to waste a paid sub-user slot just for something that can be accomplished with a free tier account. This is also entirely solvable by just letting us create free-tier sub users under the main account that has the domain tied to it.

5. I would very much like to have My preferred icon rather than mere initials on My account.

   All other places I have been allowed Me to personalize the icon, but I see no way to upload an image to use, and would like very much for that to be an option.

6. Have a sales team that actually answers your requests

   On 2 occasions I reached out about our interest for migrating to Proton for business, both times I got an answer telling me how excited you were to help us and asking for more information. I answered twice and never got any answer. Is it because we are too small of a company?
   This is very disappointing, we were very interested by your solutions, but I guess we will have to find a different approach to better secure our information...

7. Offer a "lite" version with a lifetime purchase option for users who use minimal features.

   I love the services Proton offers and believe they should be compensated for the great work they do. But I would really like to be able to just pay like a one time $250 for an account that had the paid subscription benefits but with just a single email domain and half the storage or something.

   Consumers are burnt out on subscription models, we need to go back to just buying something and that be the end of the transaction.

8. Allow different display names for account vs email profiles

   In Mail I can create multiple profiles with different display names (e.g. test@pm.me shows “Jack”, test@protonmail.com shows “Jack Frost”). That’s super useful.

   But those names get pulled into my Proton account and other services (Drive, etc.). It would be great if the account could show a different display name or nickname without forcing the email profile names onto everything else.

   I’d prefer to use a nickname for my Proton account, while keeping my email profiles the way I configured them.

9. correct IGIC (local VAT) or VAT-free for Canary Islands

   The Canary Islands are part of Spain, but not part of the EU VAT zone. Instead of VAT (IVA), the islands apply their own local indirect tax called IGIC – generally 7 %, and in many B2B cases 0 %.
   This means that invoices issued to customers based in the Canary Islands must not include standard Spanish VAT. Depending on the business relationship, they should either apply IGIC or be issued without any VAT at all, following the special tax status of the islands.
   Take into account that the reverse charge mechanism doesn't apply here. Canary Islands tax-Ds cannot be verified against the European system.

10. Mail Plus Family Plan – Affordable Secure Email for The Whole Family

    I love Proton’s encrypted email and want my extended family to use it, but most relatives only need a mailbox—not the full Proton suite. Paying for separate Mail Plus accounts or a bundled Family plan (which includes services we never use) is costly and cumbersome. A dedicated family plan for Mail Plus would let me sponsor and manage everyone’s accounts in one place.

    Feature Overview

    Scope: Covers only Proton Mail Plus (no VPN, Drive, Pass).
    Primary Admin: One main subscriber pays and controls member invites, removals, and billing via a simple dashboard.
    Individual Mailboxes: Each family member gets a separate, fully encrypted account with their own login.
    Billing: Monthly or annual (annual retains the usual 23 % savings)

11. Paypal three instalments

    When using Proton VPN, after starting the payment process with PayPal, I cannot find the option to pay in three instalments, even though the amount to be paid is more than €30.
    In my opinion, Proton has not requested its activation. Yet, the total amount would be credited to them immediately.
    I have no technical or financial issues with PayPal.
    I would be happy to be proven wrong.
    I urge Proton to activate it.

12. OAuth flow for external applications to use to access Proton services

    Allow developers to implement their own apps integrated to the Proton enviroment and, through an auth flow, get the required permissions to use users accounts

    Examples of implementation
    Proton Drive SDK (Existing Proton Drive SDK implementation of authentication and app indentification is easily forjable and apps wth bad intentions will store user credentials)
    A future Proton Mail SDK (which would allow open email clients like Thunderbird to implement Proton Mail without the need of Proton Mail Bridge)
    Proton VPN SDK (An SDK where apps can tunnel requests via a Proton VPN server)
    Proton Docs & Calendar SDK (SDK to develop Proton Docs addons [available via the Proton Docs website] and apps that read Proton Docs data)

    Some implementation suggestions
    The user should be warned about every permission the app is asking
    The authorization URL should be very clear that gives access to your Proton account (such as "authorize.proton.me)"
    A form of 2FA should be asked before authorizing any app

    This is an important step for a free environment, where Proton apps and third party apps have a secure auth flow with proper and granular permission granting

13. Do not connect the account which redeemed a gift card to the buyer's information

    Connecting the account which redeemed a gift card to the buyer of the gift card is not really 'privacy preserving', which is a huge roadblock for many. They may not want their real payment info connected to their email, perhaps for wanting to keep their real life separated from their online life or other concerns they may have.

14. Account recovery (Android App)

    Add Password Reset Option Using Active Proton Mail Session

    Description

    Currently, Proton users who are locked out of Proton Pass but still have an active authenticated Proton Mail session can become permanently stuck in a recovery deadlock.

    In my case, I am locked out of Proton Pass and unable to access my stored passwords or recovery codes. Proton Mail is the only session I still have access to. However, when attempting to change or reset my account password from Proton Mail, the system requires entering the current (old) password.

    This requirement defeats the purpose of account recovery. If the user still had access to their old password, recovery would not be necessary in the first place. Since Proton Pass is where account passwords and recovery codes are typically stored, being locked out of Proton Pass also means being locked out of all recovery options.

    As a result, users can end up fully authenticated in Proton Mail but with no available path to regain access to Proton Pass or reset their password, even though they are already logged into a trusted Proton application.

    Feature Request

    Implement a secure account password reset option that leverages an existing active Proton Mail session, allowing users to recover access when other recovery methods are unavailable.

    In countries with high inflation, paying with Dollars or Euros costs too much compared to the currency of that country. For such countries, special low fees must be determined and payment must be made in the local currency.

17. Create an easy way to backup and delete emails from certain dates to save storage space

    In the global cost of living crisis we need more help from companies trying to do good. many of us just can't afford to continually upgrade packages from storage getting filled up. At the same time, we don't want to be using unnecessary resources putting pressure on Proton. There already exists a backup/export process but it's not particularly user friendly and as far as I can tell there's no options, it's either all or nothing. I have 17.5GB of emails, I really don't need all of them saved, but there's no apparent way to just say sort emails over 3 years old to export and save elsewhere, so I could just easily delete those and keep the one's I might need again handy. It would be super brilliant if you could please come up with a tool to help users keep within the storage limits they can afford - if not through this way another suggestion would be welcome. Just please keep in mind your prices more than double from the cheapest account to the unlimited, and that's just simply not affordable for many of us who have been with you for years.

    I’d like to suggest a feature that would be really helpful for admins managing paid Proton accounts:

    Currently, Proton doesn’t seem to send out monthly billing notification emails when an invoice is generated or a payment is processed. It also doesn’t include the invoice as a PDF attachment in any notification. This means admins have to manually log into the dashboard each month just to retrieve the invoice.

    For those of us managing billing and accounting tasks, it would be a big improvement if Proton could:

    Automatically send a billing email each month when a new invoice is issued.

    Include the PDF invoice as an attachment in that email.

    Optionally allow customization of who receives the email (e.g., billing contacts or admins).

    This would save time, streamline financial processes, and reduce the risk of missing a billing cycle or invoice download.

    Thanks for considering this! I really appreciate the ongoing improvements and privacy-first approach Proton continues to take.

20. Single-page sign-in

    I use an Onlykey for password management, 2fa, and passkeys. It'd be nice if there were the option to switch to a single-page sign-in form across platforms and services so that I could save my UN, PW, and TOTP to a single slot.

    As it stands, I have to open a text document, use the Onlykey to paste my credentials, and then copy/paste them into the sign-in form. The only alternative right now is to assign the password to one slot, and the TOTP to another. I've only got 24 slots, and I resent having to use more than one for the same service.
