   I really don't want to support US companies anymore. I don't want to pay with Google, Visa, Mastercard, etc.

2. Being able to change/replace the EXTERNAL default mail adress.

   Right now it's basically impossible to properly change / replace the primary external (non-Proton) recovery/login email address — please make it feasible.

   As of early 2026, changing the primary external email (the non-Proton address used for account recovery + alternative login) it's impossible. You have to create a new account with a new "external adress" and transfer the data from the old account. Attempt a risky manual deletion → potential lockout stress if anything goes wrong during the transition.

   Actually, the core issue isn't the technical difficulty of changing the primary external (non-Proton) recovery/login email — it's the fact that Proton effectively forces users to keep their original external recovery address for life.

   Many users switch main emails over time (old Gmail → new Outlook → iCloud → custom domain → etc.), and being effectively stuck with the original external recovery address for life feels outdated and user-hostile compared to almost every other major email provider.

   Adding this core feature would make the process safer, intentional, and actually usable — without forcing users to stay locked to an old external address forever. "Forcing" users to keep a lifetime e-mail adress goes also against the good practices of privacy and security :

   => Violates modern security hygiene principles :
   Good security practice recommends rotating all recovery methods over time — just like passwords, 2FA backup codes, recovery phone numbers, or security questions.
   A recovery email that cannot be fully replaced becomes a permanent single point of failure for the entire account.

   => Creates a lifelong privacy leak :
   The original recovery email (often an old Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) is frequently the one most connected to your real identity, past data breaches, advertising profiles, and cross-site tracking.
   Being unable to remove it means you are forced to maintain a privacy-compromising link to your Proton account indefinitely — the exact opposite of what a privacy-first service should do.

   => Creates a lifelong privacy leak :
   The original recovery email (often an old Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) is frequently the one most connected to your real identity, past data breaches, advertising profiles, and cross-site tracking.
   Being unable to remove it means you are forced to maintain a privacy-compromising link to your Proton account indefinitely — the exact opposite of what a privacy-first service should do.

   => Damages trust in a privacy-focused service :
   When a company that positions itself as the champion of privacy and security prevents users from following basic, widely accepted privacy & security recommendations, it undermines its own core message.

   In 2026, keeping a recovery email immutable for life is not just inconvenient — it is actively harmful to both privacy and security, and stands in direct contradiction with everything Proton claims to stand for. Fixing this small but critical UX pain point would make the whole experience feel much more modern and user-respecting.

3. Advanced Protection (phishing-resistant MFA)

   Implement something similar to Google Advanced Protection or Apple iCloud (phishing-resistant MFA) - e.g. disable all non-phishing resistant (weak) factors when at least two of FIDO2/U2F keys or passkeys are added.

   Russian and Belarusian APT groups have been conducting targeted phishing operations to compromise Proton accounts for years. Through sophisticated social engineering tactics, these threat actors trick victims into revealing SMS and TOTP codes enabling unauthorized access to their accounts or accounts takeover. Example:

   For high-risk individuals such as journalists, activists, and politicians, an account takeover can have extreme consequences, including imprisonment or torture. Training and awareness do reduce risk, but they cannot realistically eliminate it for most users. To meaningfully lower exposure, we recommend technical controls that make remote, phishing-based account compromise substantially harder or (ideally) impossible.

   Phishing-resistant 2FA became the de-facto standard years ago for high-profile users of Microsoft, Google and Apple services:

4. Setup for catch-all and wildcard aliases with SL & PP

   I would like to request support for Fastmail/Migadu-style catch-all aliases in Proton/SimpleLogin, where any email sent to *@*.example.com—including all subdomains of a custom domain—is automatically delivered to my main mailbox (e.g., example@example.com). This would allow users to receive emails sent to any subdomain without manually creating aliases, simplifying email management while keeping full control over a custom domain.

5. Allow adding payment methods for users with Apple subscriptions

   Issue:
   Users that have an active subscription through Apple's App Store cannot add payment method in Proton Mail settings. When they click on "Add credit / debit card" they are greeted with the "Manage your subscription on Apple App Store" popup.

   While I understand why it wouldn't make much sense to have a payment method on an account that has their subscription managed by a 3rd party, I've encountered an edge case that I think would be beneficial to the <1% of users like me.

   I've cancelled my Proton subscription through my Apple Account. Now, since the Proton mail settings don't allow me to add a payment method, I need to wait for my subscription to expire, then add a payment method to Proton, then pick a subscription.

   I just think this would be beneficial to implement, don't see any issues with adding a payment method since the user can be notified that the payment method is inactive or will not be used as long as they have a 3rd party controlled subscription. But any additional purchases or activations through Proton can still be completed with the added payment method.

6. Feature Request: FIDO2 only authentication on new devices

   Summary
   Add an account security option that enforces FIDO2 security keys as the only allowed 2FA method when a user signs in from a new or untrusted device.

   Problem / Current Behavior
   In the current login flow, when a user has a FIDO2 key enabled the user can fallback to OTP-based 2FA rolling codes. This creates a downgrade path.

   Desired Behavior (What should change)
   Provide a ON/OFF setting such as: “Require FIDO2 security key for new/untrusted devices.”

   When enabled
   • FIDO2 is required when signing in from a new/untrusted device.
   • OTP fallback is not offered in that same new/untrusted device flow.
   • On already trusted devices, the service may continue using the existing “trusted session” behavior.

   Trigger Condition
   FIDO2 only enforcement is triggered only when the service determines the login attempt is from:
   • a new device, or
   • an untrusted device/session

   Preconditions and Safety Net (Required before enabling)
   To prevent lockouts, require the following before the user can enable the option:

   • Recovery code generated and confirmed by user
   • At least two registered FIDO2 keys
   • A clear warning + acknowledgement: enabling this can block access if keys are lost

7. Family Plan - Slider selectable options for greater storage and user flexibility choices

   Overall Family plan issue:
   I see people wanting different things for the Family Plan, some say there is too much storage (I personally do not agree with this), some say it needs more storage, others say it needs to allow for more users, while others want certain services and other don't want certain services.

   It seems to me we are running up against the truth that 'there is no standard family', so the standard 6 member / 500 gb per member model doesn't fit the needs of many. We need a more flexible offering to attract more people over to Proton

   I propose a slider style option, where people select the components that are important to their family and the price adjusts accordingly on the Family Plan.

   Slider/Selectable options could include (Not all of these have to be implemented, they are just a starting list)

   1. Number of members (3-10+)
      You could have 2-10 if you want to roll duo plan into family and remove the duo tier, simplifying offerings

   2. Storage
      500gb - 1TB per user selectable.
      At present I think the family plan is poor storage value. You effectively get 500mb/user (6 users, 3TB in total).
      Duo gives you 2TB (1 TB per user) and Professional gives you 1TB per user, making Family plan look rather shabby when it comes to total storage compared.

   3. Pricing overall
      Using $x times the number of users quickly gets too costly for most families.
      A sliding discounts model based on the more members you sign up the greater the discount might do well here. Retailers use this to increase bulk sales.
      I realise there is a base cost that must be covered with profit but when one compares the cost of say the Professional plan $7.99 on discount x's 6 users with double the storage those 6 users on Professional would get, it makes the family plan discount somewhat merger in terms of cost savings.
      I think more tweaking could be done here to bolster family plan value

   4. Product inclusions
      This one is obviously tricky and could get messy in terms of product tracking but maybe having some of the products that are included be optional for a further reduction could be looked at.

   I personally am ok with the products included in the family plan but if we are to consider tweaking of the family plan, then all options should be considered

   Is it all too hard?:
   For those that think this is all too hard in terms of product offerings, in a previous lifetime I used to work in some large Telco's and we had moved some of our service offerings to this sliding selectable model and it worked.

   The hardest part wasn't the technical implementation it was convincing marketing and the business who want dedicated forecasts and defined projections to loosen up and try different things to remain competitive. Obviously you needs checks and balances in place, like limiting the plan changes per quarter or whatever your financial forecasting models are based on but that's easily doable.

   Once you go down this path you start to see that this slider selection model can be applied to other plans also.

    Proton should support Monero payments for all services, in particular email and VPN.

    At present, Proton does not accept Monero payments directly, but rather refer to some 3rd party option.

    This proposal is specifically regarding Proton accepting Monero payments directly, similar to how they currently do for Bitcoin.

11. Onetime payment for lifetime Proton Unlimited

    There is some things I see that I would never use in the Mail plus/proton pass plan, but I really would like to just pay once. I like the idea of having a 50-99year "unlimited/lifetime" since once I'm gone you can either forward the logins to a designated person I say and give them 90 days to download the archive, or just shred/delete everything once I leave the earth.

    I despise monthly payments. Its the principal of it and the fact some cars have DLC for things already built into the car is crazy. Let me bite the bullet, and you can even let me pick and choose what I want vs not so you aren't wasting resources on features I'll never use. Also I could have 3 things hitting one account causing a possible overdraft over forgetfulness.

    There is some things I see that I would never use in the Mail plus/proton pass plan, but I really would like to just pay once. By offering a streamlined “Lite” package, Proton could attract a broader audience that wants privacy without paying for features they don’t need.     The Canary Islands are part of Spain, but not part of the EU VAT zone. Instead of VAT (IVA), the islands apply their own local indirect tax called IGIC – generally 7 %, and in many B2B cases 0 %.
    This means that invoices issued to customers based in the Canary Islands must not include standard Spanish VAT. Depending on the business relationship, they should either apply IGIC or be issued without any VAT at all, following the special tax status of the islands.
    Take into account that the reverse charge mechanism doesn't apply here. Canary Islands tax-Ds cannot be verified against the European system.

16. Mail Plus Family Plan – Affordable Secure Email for The Whole Family

    I love Proton’s encrypted email and want my extended family to use it, but most relatives only need a mailbox—not the full Proton suite. Paying for separate Mail Plus accounts or a bundled Family plan (which includes services we never use) is costly and cumbersome. A dedicated family plan for Mail Plus would let me sponsor and manage everyone’s accounts in one place.

    Primary Admin: One main subscriber pays and controls member invites, removals, and billing via a simple dashboard.

17. critical need of PASSKEY & 2FA (BOTH) TO SIGN IN ASAP ASAP its easy for you proton dont wait for votes

    my friend saw my both passwords (2 password mode) from behind while i was signing in to proton account, i didnt knew this until he told me and now teasing me but that's not the issue.

    the critical issue is that it is possible and successful.

    i need to SIGN IN by using PASSKEY & 2FA BOTH so that my passwords remain confidential even if someone see everything while i am signing in.

19. Paypal three instalments

    When using Proton VPN, after starting the payment process with PayPal, I cannot find the option to pay in three instalments, even though the amount to be paid is more than €30.
    In my opinion, Proton has not requested its activation. Yet, the total amount would be credited to them immediately.
    I have no technical or financial issues with PayPal.
    I would be happy to be proven wrong.
    I urge Proton to activate it.

20. Add allowing a second email for account recovery, or possibly add multiple email accounts for recovery.

    Add allowing a second email for account recovery, or possibly add multiple email accounts for recovery.
    This would assure that users can do a recovery, even if the 1st/primary email is not available at any particular time.
