This is an incredibly important issue. The reasons given for not offering to individual users is both understandable and easily surmountable. Simply make this capability an additional account, with a separate charge, that can be installed into a router or activated via its own small app, thereby keeping it separated from a user's no-logs regular Proton VPN. Of course a dedicated IP will be able to connect to an identity, that is expected, and part of the functionality -- financial institutions and other businesses may consistently identify a user based on this IP, and are more likely to accept it as a typical use by an identified customer.

Given the ongoing upsurge in Linux adoption (following the W10 EOL, & recent Steam improvements making gaming on Linux more viable), Proton is missing a highly significant opportunity by not having a Linux desktop app & folder syncing. When Windows users migrate to Linux they will be immediately looking for an app to replace One Drive, and since Proton has no comparable offering available to those users they will look elsewhere, and in doing so will be exposed to other vendors ecosystems. In addition, other companies are certainly noting this situation, and are preparing products to provide this critical service to the rapidly growing new market. Not only are you ill serving your existing user base, but are are incentivising existing competitors and creating entirely new competitors. This is shamefully shortsighted.
