Hi Proton Team,
I am trying to migrate my entire mobile workflow away from Google to Proton for privacy reasons, however the current implementation of Proton Contacts within the Proton Mail app is a dealbreaker for daily use.
Currently, the workflow is broken:
- No Native Editing: I cannot easily create or edit contacts within the app. The interface is clunky and not designed for contact management.
- No Standalone Dialer: There is no dedicated dialer app. I have to open the Mail app, navigate menus, find a contact, and then trigger a call. This is inefficient and unintuitive compared to Google's native integration.
- Poor UX: The number of clicks required to perform basic tasks (finding a contact, editing a number, placing a call) is excessive.
My Request: To truly compete with and replace Google, Proton needs to release:
- A dedicated, standalone Proton Contacts app with full CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) capabilities.
- A standalone Proton Dialer app that integrates with the encrypted contact list for one-tap calling.
- Seamless synchronization that replaces the system-level Google Contacts/Dialer experience, not just a "feature inside an email app."
I want to use Proton as my primary communication suite. Right now, the friction is too high. Please prioritize building a native mobile contacts and dialer experience that matches the quality of your email and VPN products.
