Sorting by Label
Sort by Label
Currenty you can sort your email by subject, sender, recipient and attachment. However sorting by label really would help me out big time. I flag most of my emails by type of category and the requested actions. Sorting by outstanding actions would help me big time4 votes -
See ongoing and completed folder actions
At present when you perform a bulk action (eg moving many emails from one folder to another) while this is still in progress the folder/label shows a banner saying "Message actions in progress. This may take a while." I would like a central place in settings to see what actions are currently in progress and when they have completed. This is particularly important when setting up filters and applying them to existing emails.
Eg I moved all emails from "facebook" to a particular folder, then moved all facebook emails regarding events to a sub-folder, at present it is very difficult…

Show which folder an email is in
Currently a user, cannot identify where an email is positioned in the folder tree, like when the emails are liste after a "search" action: no info in the email-list, no info on the banner, no info on menus, ...
Instead this information is very important and should be clearly highlighted, perhaps with a pop-up.

Notications from shared calendars
When sharing a calendar, for example in a family, it would be nice to know if other members of the shared calendar adds, deletes or make changes to the calendar. It could be a change of time, title or date of an existing appointment. Or if a member adds an new appointment.
Would it be possible to add this feature to the calendar?4 votes -
Custom subaddressing delimiter for custom domains (plus addressing, email tags, catchall support)
Custom subaddressing delimiter for custom domains (beyond plus addressing)
Allow custom-domain owners to choose the subaddressing delimiter from any RFC-permitted non-alphanumeric symbol allowed in the local-part of an email address (e.g., . - _ + ! # $ % & ' * / = ? ^ \ { | } ~`).
Why:
Plus-addressing and email tagging users rely on tagged addresses for filtering, traceability, and account compartmentalization.
The current + delimiter is widely stripped or rejected by websites and abused by bots and spammers.
Alternative symbols would restore reliable tagging for custom-domain owners, catchall users, and advanced filtering workflows.

delete events within specific time periods
Others have suggested important features like deleting by clicking on DEL/CANC and by selecting previous events in a series. However, I still find it critical to be able to bulk delete many events from a whole day, or period, selecting ONE or ALL calendars at a time. For example, all the events within a specific calendar from last January, or last year. Sometimes, you need to keep the events for some time but, at this time, deleting them later takes AGES. Thanks a lot, you're great at Proton!

Why can't labels and folders have the same name?
Folders and labels have a different function and are stored separately. I might want to label emails and use a folder with the same name for the respective functionalities. It doesn't seem logical that they can't have the same name.
It's clear that I can add e.g. a prefix to one of these, but it's messy.

Add built in S/MIME email signing
It would be nice if mails could be, by default, signed with an S/MIME.
Proton mail already supports signing mails with G/MIME, but G/MIME doesnt add the little green checkmark on gmail (it just makes my message get an attachement with the key, and get sent to spam).4 votes -
Archive and delete always mark read
Have a setting that marks all messages read when archived and/or deleted.
This is especially annoying when you already seen the title in notification on your phone and just want to archive it, you only get one click. So if you don't want the archive folder to have a "1 unread message" after that, then you have to open the app.

Allow additional (family-)users to add new email addresses without being admin.
Having a family subscription and my family members ask me to create new addresses, because they cannot do that themselves. So now I've changed them all to "admin" because I don't want to deal with their email addresses.
But now they can also add new users and delete existing ones - the can even remove me, the primary admin! That really doesn't seem to the right way to do user authorization.
Please add an "Allow address creation" checkbox next to the "Admin" checkbox in the user popup. That would really solve a problem.

Add instructions for adding PGP Keys to DNS Records
It would be nice if Proton added instructions somewhere for how to add your PGP key that it generates to your DNS records, and if it added an automated way to verify that the entry was added correctly. I see on Wikipedia that there is an OPENPGPKEY DNS record type (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DNS_record_types). If I go to https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc7929, I see instructions for how to format this record. It appears that for the email address example they give (hugh@example.com), then the entry key is the SHA-256 hash of "hugh" followed by ._openpgpkey.example.com. The type is "OPENPGPKEY", and the…

An easy way to copy the sender's email address of a received email
Currently, left-clicking on the sender's email address collapses the message, while right-clicking on the sender's email address brings up the browser's context menu. Users can't perform a basic action like getting the sender's email address from their Inbox to the clipboard.

Possibility to create rules for events and emails
Possibility to create rules for emails and calendar (to send to folders as already suggested in an other request) but also for colour coding, auto-delete (gdpr management), auto-forward, save to drive etc.

Global notifications settings in calendar app
Proton Calendar currently defaults to both push and email notifications for calendar events. There should be a global setting to disable/enable these features. I never want email notifications for calendar events and so I am left to manually disable email notifications for each event. A global setting would save me time.

Optional warning before sending unencrypted replies in encrypted threads
Currently, when a Proton Mail user sends a password-protected encrypted message to a non-Proton recipient via a secure link, the recipient can reply securely via the encrypted message portal. However, if the Proton user then replies using the normal “Reply” function, the response is sent unencrypted by default — even though the conversation previously contained encrypted messages.
This creates a significant risk of accidental data exposure, as both the reply and the entire email history may be sent unencrypted without the user realizing it.
I understand this is a deliberate design decision, but I strongly believe there should be an…

Self-destruct multiple emails
Currently, the self-destruct option can only be selected for each email individually. It would be really useful to be able to select multiple emails and choose a self-destruct time for all of them.

Sending E2EE emails to non-Proton users without the manual password/key hassle
I’ve been a very happy user and I’m incredibly grateful for what the Proton team has built. Proton is easily the best at privacy when both sides are on the platform, but recently I’ve been sending a lot of sensitive documents—IDs, bank docs, and contracts—to government officials. It’s made me realize that while Proton is great for privacy if both sides use it, it’s still a huge headache when your recipient isn’t a Proton user or a tech freak.
Right now, we have two options for non-Proton users, and both have major real-world friction. First, there’s PGP. Unless the recipient…
