1. Use a more widely known document format (.docx, .odt…) instead of .protondoc

   I recently tried to edit a document offline with OnlyOffice from my Proton Drive folder (synced with my account), and to my surprise I found that the document wasn’t supported because its format was .protondoc !

   Moreover, when I save a Word document as .docx on my computer and then edit it online, a second document is created in the .protondoc format, and again it can’t be edited with OnlyOffice because the format isn’t recognized !

   Why doesn’t Proton use a more common format? Is this a constraint of end‑to‑end encryption?

3. Make Photos on Drive more like a Photo Viewer over File System

   The photos viewer is nice but it would still be good to view the photos as normal files as part of the file system and makes them syncable to computers.

   This would allow the user to manipulate the photos once they're in Proton Drive and limited to the UI. Once you upload them, it's almost like they're inaccessible to anything but viewing.

   It would also allow the user to organise/rename/edit the photos on their local computer rather than them being "hidden" away and only accessible in the UI. Although there are albums for organisation, folder based organisation would also be possible which would not show in the Photos view.

   The photos view would stay as-is, perhaps allowing a customisable selection of folders being available to select for the Photos view to search through for photos.

5. Download folders from Drive on Android

   Hi,
   I would love to be able to download a folder from Drive to my internal storage. Currently I can only download files and new to recreate the folders if needed.
   This clutters my download folder and I can't find stuff.

6. Mutual proton drive

   I have a Proton Duo subscription shared with my wife, and I’d like to know if it’s possible to have a single, mutual Proton Drive that both of us can access and manage — rather than using shared folders between two separate Drives.
   In other words, can we have a truly common Drive space for both accounts within the Duo plan, where we both have equal ownership and access rights?

8. Plaintext and source files editing

   It would be great to be able view and edit plaintext or source files.

   • This one feature would allow to work with dozens of file formats in different programming/scripting languages, config files etc.
   • It would allow to create quick txt/md notes, where the full blown rich text editor is not required/desired.
   • It would allow to use Markdown note vaults, like those used by Obsidian.
   • It would allow to use tabular data in CSV format, which might cover some use cases for the (currently missing) spreadsheets feature.

   In the future, it would be also nice to have some syntax highlighting for popular languages. But even without that, the ability to edit raw text would be a massive improvement.

   It would be great to be able view and edit plaintext or source files.

10. Drive Mount Point

    Please remove the "My files" subdirectory from the drive mount point. When setup asks where to mount the share, if I put in C:\Users[UserName]\Proton. That's where I want it. I do not want an additional subdirectory. I especially do not want one with a space in it. Just mount it where specified.

11. Allow Proton Business admins to (jointly) manage file and folder shares

    I'm using Proton Business Suite. In Proton Drive, I can share files and folders with people in my team. When I share a file or folder, I can assign people as "viewers" or "editors".

    I certain cases, I would like to further elevate these privileges to "admin": for my collaborators to have insight in and control over the sharing of this/these files and folders.

    This would effectively create the possibility of a fully "shared drive" (in the Google Drive sense of the word, for example), where people take full co-ownership (administrator rights) on the folder.

    Even better if I (as the primary admin), could create a separate "shared drive" with separately assigned quotas and top-level sharing that I can manage independently from my private drive. I understand that this is tricky because of Proton's security model.

    Maybe you can have it as a requirement that the account's owner / primary admin has access to (effectively "owns") all shared drives?

12. Sync file deletion between local and cloud storage

    In the proton drive app, you choose folders to sync to the cloud. But when you delete a file from Proton Drive, its local copy is not deleted from your computer. However, when delete a local file, its cloud copy is automatically deleted.

    This can cause problems, for example if you rename or otherwise edit a local file that is in a synced folder but whose cloud copy you have deleted, it's going to create a new cloud copy of it.

    My suggestion: Adding two new toggles in the settings. One that would make it so that when you delete a file from your cloud, its local copy would be deleted too. And another one that would allow the user to choose whether the cloud copy of a file should be removed when the local version of this file is deleted.

    This feature would improve the user experience by avoiding confusion and duplication of files, as well as saving storage space and bandwidth. It would also enhance the security and privacy of the users by ensuring that their files are deleted from both locations when they want to. Users would have the option to enable or disable this feature according to their preferences and needs.

13. QNAP NAS Integration

    Ich verwende ein NAS von QNAP dass ich gerne zum Teil auf Proton Drive sichern bzw synchronisieren möchte. Leider gibt es bis jetzt keine Möglichkeit einen Sicherungsauftrag im QNAP NAS zu erstellen. Daher würde ich um eine Integration von Proton Drive im QNAP HSB wünschen.

    Link proton mail and proton drive so that we can:
    - while writting an email, pick a file directly from proton drive to attach it in the mail or share it via a link (exactly as it work between gmail and google drive)
    - detach a file attached to a received email directly in proton drive

15. Allow the ability to download multiple files without having them bundled inside of a .zip file from the web interface.

    As it stands, on the web interface, if you select multiple files to download within a folder, they automatically get bundled into a large .zip file.

    It would be nice to have an option to instead have the files queued up to be downloaded separately.

    I'm aware you can individually click download on each file, but I'd like to be able to use the checkbox to select all files in a folder and queue them up as separate downloads.

19. Allow editing on Proton Sheets for Mobile

    Proton Sheets works well on Laptop/Desktop but when viewing via the Proton Drive app on mobile (I have a Google Pixel 6a) the message "Screen too small for editing"... is displayed.

    Flipping to landscape allows editing but the keyboard takes up the whole screen so it's obvious Proton Sheets was designed only only to be used on larger devices at this stage.

    Would be good if work were completed to enable editing and generally update the mobile app so that Proton Sheets is truly functional via mobile.

20. add "secret" albums - certain photos are only displayed in these albums, not in the gallery

    Add ability to declare Albums "secret" to hide specific pictures from the general photo gallery ("Photo" tab) and display them only in these specific albums.
    It's the equivalent of Apples "secret album", so one can hide sensitive pictures from the general view - especially if the gallery becomes a shared space.

    Suggestion: when an album is classified as "secret" all pictures in /added to it are automatically removed from the general gallery.
