1. HEIC photo in folders in My Files - support display in browser when sharing via link

   HEIC is not supported for display in Firefox or Edge when sharing via link.

   Hhowever, JPG works, and HEIC photos can also be displayed when sharing between users in the Photos section.

2. View-only link access (prevent download)

   Hello,

   A drive link version with view-only access is an essential and attainable feature. This is paramount for one-time actions, such as ID verification, where a file must be marked 'verified' by the recipient, but need not be saved.

   Yes, the file may be captured as a screenshot, and processed thereafter, but this effort and lower resolution will discourage those who may absentmindedly download the file to keep 'a copy on hand', with no thought to its security.

3. Proton Docs: Convert footnotes from docx to Docs files and show comments on download

   1. I work in Ulysses (Markdown) and export to Word, store the docx files in Proton Drive and share with a collaborator, and we work together in Docs. While passages marked with the "::" code show as highlighted in docs, footnotes created in markdown, which show up in docx, do not show up in Docs files.

   2. There seems to be no way to download a docs file in any format and have the comments made in the docs file show up in the downloaded file. If there is, please let me know. If not, please consider adding this feature. Thanks.

   I would like to request support for a WORM (Write Once, Read Many) archiving feature with integrated retention expiration management.

6. Expand Proton Drive Search to Include Trash, PCs, and Mobile Devices

   As a Visionary Plan user, I use Proton Drive a lot for storing and managing my files. It would be really helpful if the search feature could be expanded to include:

   Trash Folder: Right now, finding deleted files in the Trash is hard because there's no search. Adding search here would make it much easier to recover lost files quickly.
   Files on My PCs and Mobile Devices: Currently, search only works for files inside Proton Drive. If it could also search files on my linked devices, it would save me a lot of time and make managing my files much smoother.
   This change would make Proton Drive even better and more convenient, especially for users who handle lots of files across different devices. Thanks for considering this idea!

7. Bookmarks on phones

   Proton should add the ability to bookmark specific folders on Android and iOS devices, similar to the Quick Access feature on Windows. This would allow users to navigate to folders faster and jump between them with ease.

8. Proton Codes

   Hi, could you add a separate code section to my files, like Proton Photos? Finding the code I've written in my files is really difficult and time-consuming. To avoid this, I'd like a section that only displays the code, similar to Proton Photos. This would be a good alternative to GitHub or GitLab. I'd love for ProtonDrive to be the world's first cloud storage app to support programming languages. I'd also like for the code to be displayed with a progress bar showing the usage rate for each language, just like GitHub. Trust me, Proton users will love Proton Codes for its updates. :)

   I need to create the same page structure in proton docs multiple times to ensure that i am not missing any element in my report writing.
   It will be extremely productive, if a template could be saved for such requirement and then i just click that template and save my 7 to 9 clicks including the font and the size specifications.

11. Internal Tabs for Single Documents in Proton Docs

    I would like to request the addition of internal tabs within a single Proton Docs document. Currently, most office suites (including Proton Docs) treat each document as a standalone file, which can make managing related content cumbersome.

    Proposed Functionality:

    • Allow users to create and switch between multiple tabs or sections within a single document file.

    • Each tab would contain separate content (e.g., "Instructions," "Main Report," "Sources"), but all would be saved, shared, and version-controlled as one cohesive file.

    • Users should be able to navigate between tabs seamlessly, similar to how G****e Docs allows multiple sheets or sections within a single document.

    Example:

    Document: Client Project

    • Tab 1: Project Brief
    • Tab 2: Progress Report
    • Tab 3: References & Sources

    This feature would make Proton Docs even more competitive.

    For lot of my friends and co-worker it's a game changer features.

12. Sorting options in upload list (by date, name, size)

    When uploading files to Drive (at least in the web version), there is a panel that shows the list of current uploads. It would be really helpful if this list could be sorted — by date, name, or size. Even just sorting by date (A→Z / Z→A) would make it easier to see what was uploaded first/last and keep track of order.

    In the uploads panel we currently have: All, Active, Completed, and Failed. It would be really helpful to also have a 'Queued' category. Sometimes uploads stack up, and it's hard to tell what's waiting vs what's actually transferring. A separate 'Queued' view would make it easier to track the flow and manage uploads.

    Right now the uploads tabs only let you clear items one by one. It would be super useful to have a 'Clear all' button next to the Pause All / Refresh All / Cancel All controls. This would let us quickly clean up the list instead of clicking each file individually. It keeps things tidy and speeds up the workflow.

    Requesting native support for redirecting macOS user profile folders, such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, and other standard home folders, into Proton Drive. Similar to how iCloud Drive and OneDrive offer “Desktop & Documents” integration.

    Use case / problem:
    Today, Proton Drive works well as a secure storage location, but it does not integrate deeply with the macOS file system. This means files saved to common locations like Desktop or Documents do not automatically sync to Proton Drive unless users manually move them. For many users (families and small businesses especially), this creates friction and increases the risk that important files are never backed up or encrypted.

    Proposed behavior:

    Allow users to optionally enable profile folder redirection during Proton Drive setup or in settings.

    When enabled, macOS folders (Desktop, Documents, etc.) would transparently sync to Proton Drive.

    From the user’s perspective, saving a file to Desktop or Documents would automatically sync and be end-to-end encrypted in Proton Drive.

    This could mirror existing patterns used by iCloud Drive and OneDrive, while maintaining Proton’s encryption model.

15. Ordering of Photo Albums and Creation of sub-Albums

    In Proton Drive's Photos, please make it possible to order user-created Albums and to create sub-albums. Minimally, the albums should order by file name. As things stand, the user has no control over the order in which albums appear. It should also be possible to display them as a file list (not large icons). Use Apple's Photos as a model. I'm keen to abandon Apple's app (and all its irritating facial recognition and fake nostalgia), but no way, not until have have more control over my albums. Thank you

16. Add selection options to mobile app photo upload

    Add toggles to choose functionality from in photo upload:

    1. Videos on/off
       Include videos in the camera upload.

    2. Background on/off
       Allow camera upload in the background.

    3. After activation on/off
       Only items taken after enabling camera upload will be uploaded.

    4. Disable autolock on/off
       Enables app to upload in the foreground without screen going off.

18. Better assignment of photos to albums

    When I viewing all photos (on web) and trying to organize them to album, then:
    - selecting multiple photos hides heart icon - marking favourite photos - not a good idea when I want to pick exact one photos from series of "same" photos
    - after selecting multiple photos and assigning it to album, I would like to stay at ALL PHOTOS view not jumping to album right away. It really complicates with the adding new photos to album if I want to go through all photos. Back button always returns to the first photo of all photos section.

    Currently the photos backup feature for proton drive appears to be "all or nothing", uploading all photos on a device at once. It would be very convenient to be able to set a date range for backup (or really, set any parameters controlling which photos get backed up).

20. Sheets - search cell notes

    I would like to be able to search cell notes.

    The "Find in sheet" search box currently searches cells' formulas and even their displayed values—e.g., a $ in a cell that has the Accounting format.

    Combining them into a unified search would be okay. An option to limit the search range to formula, displayed value, and/or note would also be nice.
