It's truly disappointing when a topic as important and beneficial as this doesn't receive the attention it deserves. I wholeheartedly support the idea of improving the icons for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) during installation. As mentioned, the current white background and square shape of the icons might not blend well with the design aesthetics of both MacOS and Windows environments.
While the process of installing web apps as PWAs has brought us a step closer to a seamless integration of online services and our desktop experience, the visual aspect is equally important. Having icons with transparent backgrounds would indeed make a substantial difference in the overall visual appeal, and it's encouraging to see that this suggestion aligns well with the design trends of both operating systems.
The idea of maintaining a consistent design language across various applications and platforms should always be a priority. Transparent icons for PWAs would not only enhance the visual consistency but also contribute to a more professional and polished look.
Considering the minimal effort required for such an adjustment, it's a change that could greatly enhance user satisfaction. Users tend to appreciate a cohesive and visually pleasing interface that aligns with their operating system's design principles.
Let's continue to support this proposal and emphasize the importance of a well-integrated visual experience for web apps installed as PWAs. Our collective feedback can have a real impact on shaping these improvements for a better user experience.
Looking forward to hearing more perspectives on this matter!
