It would be great if 3rd party apps installed on a mobile device or a desktop could store their data in Drive via some API and/or locally installed bridge. Their data should be sandboxed, i.e. they should not share data or files with other apps without explicit and specific permission of the user. This data should be portable, i.e. user should always be able to have a full local copy on any platform in case they want to cancel Proton subscription or lost access to their account.
Use case: I want to replace subscription-based apps with open source or one time payment solutions and my Proton subscription. Keeping app configurations, notes, diagrams or activity records from fitness apps — all these things should be possible. This feature will enable users to own their data and dramatically reduce their bills.
