    Why not use an open source app like Aegis which supports "indirect" cloud backup ?
    No need for Proton to waste resources on such an app...

    As many other people pointed out, please don't create yet another chatting app.
    User base is key, and also the development would be slow.

    Instead, create a Proton Matrix chat or contribute and promote another already existing open source app like Signal.

    I don't think an acquisition is a good idea. Cryptad is based on open source apps. Proton could base their own office suite on that already existing frame.

    I agree with some other people from the comments.

    This would be a very bad use of resources at Proton. Developing a browser from scratch takes enormous efforts and an extended period of time.

    Instead, a browser add-on, build on already existing Open source projects (like uBlock Origin) might do the trick. Maybe something allowing for a Librewolf like experience (in terms of privacy and security tweaks) on Firefox or Chrome based browsers as an add-on.
    But honestly, it can likely already be archived through existing extensions.
