Protonmail app for Purism's Librem 5 smartphone.
In keeping with Protonmail's commitment to privacy and security I would like them to develop an app for Purism's upcoming Librem 5 smartphone. This would provide a genuine mobile alternative to Google and Apple.
Yes, please! I want to buy a Linux phone, and am leaning toward a Librem. But based on what I am reading, it seems like it would be feasible to make an application that works on most flavors of mobile Linux, and perhaps some flavors of desktop as well.
Agreed, this is something highly desirable. The argument about Librem.one being a competing service is not valid, Google has gmail but didn't stop ProtonMail creating an android app. At the end of the day this will be a linux client which is fully in line with ProtonMail's dedication to privacy.
I agree I would rather use my ProtonMail on this phone rather than the built in one. I really like ProtonMail/ProtonVPN and don't want to lose access to them on the go. There is always the website but I prefer apps if possible.

This is a must, the more ethical companies cooperate with the same ideology the easier it will compete with the major players Purism for OS, Proton Mail and Wire for messenger and once Proton could integrate calendar, notes and file sharing/cloud, this would a great business/enterprise phone/services!
Here from 2019, and yes this needs to happen! One of the others commented saying it's not needed since Librem One exists, but I disagree. Competition is important, and I'm not paying for another service and switching my mail when I've got a completely functional mail-service through ProtonMail. Besides, competition is good for the market, and more apps = more user freedom of choice.
Librem already has its own email service. https://librem.one/
The post was written before they launched it, right now I don´t think it makes any sense for Protonmail to develop an app for a competing service.
I'm really excited about the Librem phone. Privacy and Security are not forefront in the minds of the masses and that's why they will continue to be exploited by the big names in the business. This would be a great opportunity for both Proton and Purism to advance the cause.
YES! This could be a partnership that advances priavacy and security!
