Recover deleted drafts

If I "discard" (delete) a draft, it should go into the trash - that is how I want Proton Mail to work!
In my case, I wanted to delete an attached file. The Delete button is so close to the file name (*right* under it) that I misinterpreted its true nature - and now so much work to have to recreate. -

The "Changes saved" pop-up in the mobile app with a button saying "Discard" is absolutely the worst bit of UX I've seen in an application. If you're telling me changes have been saved and giving me the option to discard, I'm expecting it to discard the changes, not DELETE THE ENTIRE THING - especially when there's NO CONFIRMATION PROMPT.
As many others have mentioned, a lot of time spent getting the wording just right, gone down the drain with little memory of the details. Not moving it to Trash or giving the option to undo is... well, I'm guessing there's no allocation of the development budget to testing how the app is to use.
Personally, this is a big enough issue to make me start switching away from Proton Mail.

I have noticed on a few occasions now when i go back to finish a draft they are no longer there. I have recently lost one with very important information which I started 2 weeks ago and I now can't remember what I wrote. What is going on and how can I find them

In the Android app, I often go in to edit a draft message and then unintentionally delete the draft due to the large “Move to Trash” button that pops up when the draft saves. Really wish I could recover those!

I was simply typing my email and all the text disappeared. There was no undo button, no back button, nothing! I had to spend another 20 minutes reconstructing an email that I was pretty happy with in the first place. What the heck!

2023... I write a LONG and very important email.. was interrupted and my computer went to sleep mode.... 45mn later it's all GONE... un-acceptable! COME ON PROTON MAIL.. THIS IS A BASIC FEATURE... Besides, it did say that it was saved SO WHAT's GOING ON?!

I too have lost drafts that were almost completed, wiped beyond recovery, It is extraordinary that, in the present day, there is no safety-net for such circumstances. I have concluded that the only way of safeguarding a long or important email is to draft it in a word-processor, eg Word, then paste it across when it is ready to go,

2 weeks drafting an email and it's suddenly gone? WTF protonmail, this is so incredibly weak. This thread alone has been going on for years, and disappearing drafts are still not a priority? What kind of a crap service loses drafts in 2022, I'm done

They still didn't fix this issue and it is 2022. This is a necessity for people. I'll be changing email providers if I cannot recover a draft I lost.

Has this feature been implemented as it is critical. I have lost a whole days work on a very important email and documents at the stroke of button with no confirmation or chance for recovery. This is enough to start using a different email provider to prevent this happening in the future. I hope there is a way to recover lost email drafts.

Yes, I agree. One should be able to recover deleted drafts from the trash. I accidently deleted a draft by thinking I delete the attachement, now it deleted the draft, great.
This needs to be added to ProtonMail -

Critical flaw: not having deleted drafts in Trash. I just lost weeks of work with an accidental keypress that had no confirmation.

Please please fix this... This sucks so long and hard and deep I can't begin to tell you... I had 24 hours of work just disappear because I had what I thought was an older version already open on my phone and it wasn't clear if I was overwriting the version on my desktop (they hadn't synched up yet) when I was asked if I wanted to save... Both just gone in one inadvertent unclear fucking click

Accidentally discarded a draft, there appears to be no way retrieve it. Please
Send the discarded drafts to trash folder or give an alternative option. Thanks

Same comment as others. Lost about a weeks work. Very disappointing. It should just go to the trash to be recovered if necessary like other email providers. Why is this such a problem?

I just drafted an important email where I painstakingly considered each word to communicate my message. That time and energy is wasted because drafts accidentally deleted have no safety net. I pay for my account. Please fix this immediately.
