Sheets: Better support for manually inputting durations
I really like that Proton Sheets properly supports time-only data and durations. However, manually inputting a duration is a bit of a hassle, as the underlying data seems to be in fractions of a day: If I want my duration cell to display e.g. "8:00:00", I have to input 0.33333 or =8/24. It would be nice if Sheets recognized some common time durations, so that e.g. 8h, 8h30, 8.5h or 8:30 is converted to the proper duration value.

Native macOS Profile Folder Redirection (Desktop, Documents, etc.) to Proton Drive
Requesting native support for redirecting macOS user profile folders, such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, and other standard home folders, into Proton Drive. Similar to how iCloud Drive and OneDrive offer “Desktop & Documents” integration.
Use case / problem:
Today, Proton Drive works well as a secure storage location, but it does not integrate deeply with the macOS file system. This means files saved to common locations like Desktop or Documents do not automatically sync to Proton Drive unless users manually move them. Proton Docs: Different Bullet Points for Different Levels of Indentation
For example, the default bullet is the filled-in circle (●), and if I press "tab" to indent, the bullet becomes the outline-only circle (○), and if I press "tab" again, the bullet becomes a square (■), etc. Currently, we only have 2 different types of bullets.

Photo backup should delete photos from the drive when I delete them on my phone.
Instead of just mindlessly uploading every photo I take and calling it a day, it would be very helpful if the folders actually synced and photos I delete from my phone was automatically deleted from the drive, or at least put in a "bin" I can manually empty once in a while.

Selectable language/region formatting in proton docs
It is very annoying that when I edit a proton doc (spreadsheet), all the numbers and dates are using a US format, despite my Proton Drive account being set to Danish language.
Please add the option for the user to select the formatting of dates and numbers that they want to use, regardless of what language their browser/account is using.7 votes -
Proton Docs / Sheets - Microsoft Format compatibility mode
I’d like to request Microsoft Office format compatibility for Proton Docs and Sheets.
At the moment, I’ve migrated most of my files to Proton Drive, but I still need to keep all my .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx files in Google Drive because Proton does not yet support them natively. Since I work across multiple systems, I rely on these universal file formats for seamless collaboration and interoperability.
It would be extremely valuable to have:
- A compatibility mode similar to Google Docs/Sheets for handling Microsoft formats

Better UX for sharing link
I share files or folders with an expiration. It gives me better control, and I won't end up with dozens of shared folders without a clue about their purpose.
I would appreciate the following features:
- expiration date available in the first dialog form, I have to open another dialog now

Add photos to an album by going to a different album and adding it from there
When I go to add photos to an album, it brings be to all of my photos. It would be helpful if I had the option to navigate to existing albums to add photos from there. Or, if in the album options, to be able to select and "move to" or "copy to" a different album.

Automatically update Proton Drive on Windows
Proton Drive on Windows is able to automatically notify the user of available updates. While it is nice to see the application is actively maintained, I would much rather have the application manage its own updates and install them silently at a convenient time (e.g., once the application (re)starts).
Proton Drive already has an updating mechanism allowing the user to press the update button, it also has the ability to notify the user when an update is available, please just link those together to handle updates automatically.

Manual sync on Windows
It seems that Proton Drive only syncs documents when the last change value changes, not when the file actually changed, which creates a problem. Windows has this annoying quirk where, if the file size didn't change, it won't update the meta data for the time the document was last saved, so even if you saved 10 times in 10 minutes, if the changes you made summed up to the same file size, Explorer will continue to show the change time as being 10 minutes prior, and the updated file with not be automatically synced. save as conversions that do not need download
Proton docs can be downloaded in various formats. But you cannot save to the drive in those formats, you have to download and then upload, risking leaving the document on an insecure drive!
Add a "save as" feature which works like download, but saves to the drive.

Docs: Link to another doc (and auto completion)
I want to use Proton docs as a knowledge base. A key feature I'd like is the ability to easily write links to other documents. This should include page name auto-completion.
With this functionality, we could achieve flexible collaboration with other documentation, making it viable as a replacement for tools like Obsidian.7 votes -

Suggestion: A shareable knowledge management system
As a research student, I find that there are not many knowledgement system that can be used with good privacy, unless doing self-hosting, which is difficult for people without a lot of IT knowledge.

Better assignment of photos to albums
When I viewing all photos (on web) and trying to organize them to album, then:
- selecting multiple photos hides heart icon - marking favourite photos - not a good idea when I want to pick exact one photos from series of "same" photos
- after selecting multiple photos and assigning it to album, I would like to stay at ALL PHOTOS view not jumping to album right away. It really complicates with the adding new photos to album if I want to go through all photos. Back button always returns to the first photo of all photos section.10 votes -
Allow Photos in Proton Drive to have their date overwritten
Reason for this is Proton Drive sometimes gets the dates wrong from correctly dated photos. If like in google photos, we can overwrite the date if can fix the sorting of your images

Plaintext and source files editing
It would be great to be able view and edit plaintext or source files.
- This one feature would allow to work with dozens of file formats in different programming/scripting languages, config files etc.
- It would allow to create quick txt/md notes, where the full blown rich text editor is not required/desired.
- It would allow to use Markdown note vaults, like those used by Obsidian.
- It would allow to use tabular data in CSV format, which might cover some use cases for the (currently missing) spreadsheets feature.

Android/Photos: Store separately separate synced folders. Don't intermix Photos with Screenshots.
I miss folders under Photos section. And it would be fine to make their names match folders I selected for sync on phone.
Otherwise my photos and screenshots are all in single Photos folder. And they are too many to sort them manually between "Albums".

Create specific folder icons on Windows that reflect the synchronisation status of a folder. (Proton Drive Client)
On Windows, when folders are synced using the Proton Drive Client, the folder icon remains the Windows default one. It would be good to have different icons that reflect the status of the synchronisation operations.
For example, on top of the original icon
- Small green mark for "synced"
- Small blue mark for "On-going synchronisation"
- Small red mark for "Synchronisation is not active" (which could alert the user of a problem)3 votes
