notification area icon
I would like to see the Proton Mail desktop app sitting in the notification area (as you would see the volume control icon, clock, etc...) rather than minimized to the task bar. There, the app can periodically alert you to new messages, (including a message counter) rather than needing to open the app every few minutes.

Agreed! On Linux I currently have to use kdocker to her things like ProtonPass (that I want running all the time but nat taking up task bar space) to the tray. Allowing this be default would be awesome!
