    Currently deleted files go to trash folder and stay there until you delete them again. Is it not what you desire ?

    Why symbolic linking ? Hard link seems a better way to have this result. Maybe could be supported on proton drive vault ?

    Can be mitigated by putting sync folder in a veracrypt drive but if something smarter can be done.
