Put a country flag in security log entries
The security log fails to give the user a clear idea of who logged in. Just by the time and some ip adress it's difficult to distinguish me from a hacker.
Therefore, I propose there is a country flag in the security log entries. This way I can just take a quick look at the logs and if somehow someone in say cuba, china, russia whatever logged in, I know for sure that wasn't me.
Now obviously a hacker would use Tor or some other form of proxy but that proxy would still most likely be located in some other…86 votes -
Choose which identity to keep when downgrading
Please add the feature to allow paid users to decide which identity they get to keep if they return to the free plan.
I signed up with a protonmail.ch address but found myself mostly giving people my protonmail.com address. I want to go back to a free plan now but not being able to change my primary identity to the .com address is a problem.

Disable login for aliases
Implement the option to choose which aliases are allowed to login in the Proton ecosystem. I mean the aliases that are created with Proton Mail, not with SimpleLogin.

Proton SPAM
Idea:
To NOT spam advertisements to existing Unlimited PAYING CUSTOMERS through popups on your apps. I do not need to log in to my OS to be confronted with a popup advertisement for "Hey Upgrade to Duo for $$.$$ pcm" when Proton VPN starts, or have "Duo Upgrade" icons littered through the application. I only use the service for myself.73 votes -
Add security questions
You can add security questions on resetting password - after clicking link sent to recovery email, before you can enter new password, you should answer two (or three) security questions.
This will be additional security for resetting password.
73 votesAt this point, security questions have been shown to not be an effective way to validate a users identity. At this time the recovery email address is our sole means of identifying users ownership of an account.

Stop being a greedy subscription-pushing enterprise
- Stop pushing Unlimited on already paying customers. Proton mail is a good product and I'm SICK of constantly being told that paying 2x a month for products I don't want is a great deal.
- Barring existing customers from black friday deals sucks. The only "deal" offered to me is to pay you more money (unlimited plan), where as new customers can get an actual deal on proton mail.
I know you aren't going to do anything about this, I just want to voice my frustration. Apparently using only one Proton product isn't good enough. Did it occur to you that…

Unlimited accounts for catch-all email addresses
I am a premium paying member of proton mail who uses a catch-all email domain.
I use many prefixes such as:
moving@address.com
apartment@address.com
work@address.com
personal@address.com
name@address.com
etc.In order to send email from these addresses, I must have accounts for them. This is very annoying as I have to repeatedly create and delete these accounts in order to stay under the 15 account limit.
On my own domain, I should have unlimited addresses.
This would very helpful and would solve one of my biggest annoyances with proton.

Purchase multiple plans under 1 account
I currently have a Proton Business plan with x users. However, not all users require all the features that come with Proton business, and I would like to purchase a Mail Essentials plan. I cannot do this for some reason.
I would like the ability to purchase different tiers of plans under the same account.

Pay per GB
Pay for EXACTLY the storage that you used in a month, instead of having to bump plans with *** GB increments - and serious price increases.
Proton uses limits to extract maximum consumer surplus and force new plans on people, when all they want is just more storage. This is just like commercial companies, and leaves a bad taste.
The better approach is to align consumer value and producer cost : pay for what you use, with a standard cost-plus premium. It's not how you make the most money, agreed - but it is how you build a loyal user…

More free filters
Add more free filters like at least 3 because free accounts only have 1 available filter and paid accounts have unlimited. I've also seen similar posts on here from 2016 of this issue and free accounts still only have 1 filter.

SMS 2FA
I understand this wouldn't be the choice for the most privacy-seeking users, but when one doesn't own a smartphone, the good old code sent through SMS for 2FA would be a great feature!
Best regards,

Block Account Logins from Email Aliases
You are currently able to log in to a Proton service using any of your email aliases. A user should have the option to disable account logins for anything other than their original account username.

Monthly payments for yearly plans
Spending close to €200 for a 2 year unlimited plan in one payment right now is difficult for many people, and I believe you would get much more uptake if you allowed purchase using a monthly installment method.
I, for one, was about to buy your Proton Unlimited package until I discovered that I'd have to spend almost €200 in one go to get it.
Offering a monthly payment subscription option is a sound business model in these times of financial strain, so please can I ask that you at least consider the idea?
Thank you!

Appropriate fees should be determined specifically for countries with high inflation.
In countries with high inflation, paying with Dollars or Euros costs too much compared to the currency of that country. For such countries, special low fees must be determined and payment must be made in the local currency.

Visionary Multi-User Support
Instead of creating new Member within the Organisation, let us "add" People that already have an Protonmail Account to our Organisation.
The benefit of that is, the Member will keep it's own Account even after he leaves the Organisation and the Admin/Visionary User just have to allocate the Addresses and Storage!
Simply said: The Admin Creates the Organisation and Add Member with their existing Protonmail Address. If the Member is on a Free Plan, he will get the benefit from the Visionary User.
When the Member leaves the Organisation, he will then fall back to the Free Plan.45 votes -

Non-profit plans (basic)
Hi,
I'm part of a non-profit organization which can't afford a ProtonMail Plus plan.
We just need more labels and more storage than the free tier allows. We don't need aliases, custom domains, or IMAP. I'm sending it here because I can see in our mailbox that we're not the only non-profits using Gmail.
I should also highlight that some "non-profits" are probably illegal with repressive governments. (Then they're not, on the legal field, non-profit, but they deserve encryption no less than myself.)
So various ideas could come up. Non-profits could have more labels and more storage for free. ProtonMail…

Standard Notes monthly subscription
I really want to try the Standard Notes subscription for 1 month to see if it fits with my day-to-day needs, however it does not offer a monthly subscription (and €90 is a bit expensive for a trial)
